Really, grab adblock Saves you bandwidth and the net is a pleasure to surf.
(i hate advertising full stop though, so i find it essential. I used someone else's machine the other day and couldn't believe the amount of ads on the net.)
Ahh,ok thanks for clarification on adblock. Still, the lack of adverts makes it my number 1 extention anyway
I tried Chrome, Opera and Safari to compare with FF 3.5 and FF was clearly faster than all the rest for me. (Opera has always been a complete dog for me...it's shockingly slow for some reason. I've tried it many times since it was released but it's always the same. Terrible)
installed it just now. finally there's the new tab button, I'm sick of using ctrl + t. IMO it still needs to give the user the ability to extend the bookmarks bar.
I really don't see it as an issue, as long as it's not pop-ups which can be blocked, more or less...
@Senninha25
You have a home button and you can middle-click it - it will open a new tab with your home page. I would prefer that over just new tab anyway, most of the time I want to google something (google of course being the home page).
Now, see, that is kind of wrong. Firefox does not require 40 extensions to make it usable at all. Let's put in an example you will understand.
You know that iTouch? The holy god (for Apple Worshippers) of music, it is very usable out of the box. But, why do people love it so much? The amazing iTunes? Nope, that is in other iPod's that have more memory and cost less.
It's because of the apps. People buy the iTouch for two reasons.
A) They love the apps.
B) They believe it makes them instantly cool.
So, Firefox is the same way. Except that most people that download firefox don't think it makes them instantly cool. That still rests with the Safari (Apple) users.
Firefox is great just out of the box. It's just better than the rest because of all of it's addons.
Thanks,
Shashdev
P.S. You are probably part of group B, aren't you?
You know he's trolling, we know he's trolling and the mods know he's trolling.
On any other forum he'd be banned. It's far from funny, he's a complete pain in the arse. His sole purpose in nearly every thread is to wind people up.
I truly believe that if anyone else here trolled as much as he does they wouldn't be welcome here. As you put it "it's his mission" I think that sums it up perfectly. How he gets away with it is beyond me.
I dunno how you say I "get away" with trolling. I get infractions as much as a normal user would if they used my posting habits. Sorry if you think the Moderators are inadequate, I find them to do their job perfectly fine.
I don't really see it as "having people shoving their products down my throat". I hardly notice ads It would be different if nearly every other site was infested with pop-ups, but a regular ad I usually have no problems with. That being said I do block ads in the browser I have used for years. Lately I've been using Chrome more often, though, and I don't really miss an adblocking feature.
Agreed. I reported him once for blatant trolling in another thread, but to no avail Seems some people can get away with more than others.
On topic... I don't have anything to say as I haven't tried the new FF
browsers nowadays are so close in terms of performace (well excluding IE i really cant stand that laggy browser) i dont really notice any significant difference that can make me change my default browser from Firefox to Safari/Opera/Chrome.
I might consider switch to Safari though because i like all its eye-candy. But having said that I'm so used to Firefox now, everytime I open a browser, my hand just automatically click on the Firefox icon instead of Safari even though they are next to each other.
dawesdust_12: Dude just shut up. you are making everyone to think that all Mac users are idiots.
I do notice the difference, but Opera has no extension support to speak of and too much integrated crap I don't care a bit about (which I find a little ironic), Safari I won't comment about it, and Chrome at the moment really bugs me up for its tendency to hog huge amounts of VM.
Just a few tabs can take up hundreds of MB of RAM. I could live without a swap file 99% of the time but Chrome can still manage to make the infamous "out of memory" message with just a few tabs open :Eyecrazy:
Then again I subscribed to the developer channel out of curiosity for extensions, so the final release will be hopefully better than that.
I came back.. Yes, I waited the month term of my ban (which is the average ban length from what I gather, if you exclude crackers).
Why are you so set against me, I get treated like every user does, too bad I'm more patient than the average fool and if I get banned, I serve it and then come back and keep posting.
Yes but when you do come back, you still post the shame tripe that you did before, shouting about how goods mac's are (not) and how all windows users are stupid, you just don't learn do you.
I agree with what was posted on the other page, you ARE making all mac owners look like idiots.
If i was a mod here i would have barred you for life from this board well before now.
this new version of Firefox is a complete pain! When I try top download something over megaupload, rapidshare, etc, the s.o.b freezes!
Anyways, the pic is when I restarted FF, and tbh I lol'd at the main message.
