1. nKP isn't worth the normal asking price at the moment, due to bugs and lack of support (though I have my fingers crossed for the current public beta).
2. LFS is worth the normal asking price, as it's being developed (however slowly, but I have my fingers crossed for a particularly lovely patch in a few weeks/months), sin't too buggy, provides a lot of types of driving, a lot of types of car and quite a few track environments.
You can see, I guess, why one is on offer and the other isn't.
Hence why I didn’t buy it (but I might now). The new interface looks pretty good, with a decent wheel/pedal calibration tool, that doesn’t need to be repeated four times a fortnight like in LFS! The only downside as a demo user (also) in nKpro’s that with the new beta you can’t load any third party tracks and Monaco no longer works in my original installation.
I’m not there yet. It feels like every time I play LFS something has changed in either my controller or car setup.
Because the one on offer costs more normally? I think thirty odd quid says that nKpro’s aspirational (hopefully not like race pro), but LFS at £24 stinks of a game that didn’t live up to expectations, although there’s still time to convert me!
You're not saying that the higher price of something says something about how good the game is are you?
I have no problems with having to recalibrate my wheel. Got my G25 a month or so and not touched it sinice I installed it, before that with the DFP probably never touched it for months and months.
You do see the fairly large flaw in that logic and how you could easily be tricked into buying a shit, expensive game?
I don't know anyone with calibration problems, I can't remember anyone of my group of LFS chums having persistant problems (and it's been a good few years).
Heh, I guess you should be all over iRacing then, since according to its price it's of unbeatable quality in every aspect
But yeah, you seem to be the unlucky one with controller issues. Are you sure none of the files in your LFS folder are write protected? What controller are you using and are you plugging it in before starting LFS? Seriously, my G25 never needs a recalibration, the only thing that's sometimes necessary is turning the wheel lock to lock and pressing all pedals to get the full motion range back (but that has more to do with the G25 firmware than LFS).
I probably used the wrong word when saying "I never need to recalibrate." With that I meant I never have to change anything in LFS or in the Logitech Profiler or anywhere else. I just have to physically get the wheel hardware to recognise its full motion again (mostly it's just the pedals actually).
If that is actually the problem you're unhappy about then you can't be helped I guess, since it takes less than five seconds to do this recalibration. Also it has nothing to do with LFS.
Regarding your price-quality comparison, the pricing model of racing sims is generally not comparable to normal mass market games, simply because they're often a niche product and independently developed. In the case of LFS, the devs don't even have "making lots of money" anywhere near their top priorities, hence there being no price-gauging but also no official advertisement anywhere ever. From their standpoint the price model seems to work reasonably well in supporting them and their families sufficiently, so there's no need for special offers or changes to it in general.
5 seconds when you've gone straight into an online race's a long time!
Since Sony killed the Genre with their $hitty F1 games. I just think this space's going to become a lot more crowded when Codemasters come back on the scene (if they go old-school and disregard their recent crap incarnations).
on the calibration side of things, i have not recalibrated in quite a while,
The only times i ever have needed to is when i have left another controller (PS2 controller or Joystick etc..) plugged in and button / axis assignments are different.
Basically what im saying is as long as you have plugged in the same controllers as you did when you first calibrated your wheel it should not be needed to be done again.
But then a real car (after a night of not being touched) wouldn't have crooked steering and no response from the pedals.
It’s funny you should say that, but I heard a story from an experienced mechanic, about a particular model of car that had a brake fault. Long story short was that people where ploughing into other cars at the first turning, set of lights they came to, which shows that not many people check the brakes when they set off (but if your car was pulling then I think you might stop).
Banned for what, i havent done anything wrong. Other then ask for help.
And even after i explained my problem as well as i have proof of purchase you decide to not help but ban my account. Man you guys are kinda on the slow side of helping. I would suggest instead of telling me that you guys are busy and cant help anyone, get someone who can help others while you guys work. Ya theres alot of us to be helped but theres no reason why you cant help help alot us.
Reason for the ban was becuase people all over the world are using the account. Thats great that you guys finaly figured that one out. Im glad, i mean its only been a year since i told you guys its been hacked into and i cant access my account. So for however i am banned for all i got to say is when i get it back can you please fix the dang account and put the original password on it so i can have my account back, otherwise i have to buy a new one in which i know (by law) if perma-banned for reason not caused by owner, i can ask for at minimum a quarter of what i paid back. I baught this account i think in 2007 or so. Iv used it for 5 months... and either way im not a person to fight for this but when its not my fault and the your saying it is, thats kinda messed up.
So i ask yet again can you help me get my account back? Once the ban is over?
Well why dont you give me 50$ for your account and ill only let you play it for mm a few months. And i know US law doesnt matter here. Im just explaining things, as well as no one deserves alot, if so then everyone would deserve something...
