I believe that most cars get the speed from the gearbox thus ie. when locking/spinning the wheels you should get the wierd results and your meter should go a bit crazy. In LFS you always see the real speed instead of indicated one.

Yea, I don't like that too much either, when you are doing donuts, or whatever that makes you spin your wheels while not moving, makes your speed 0, wich isn't very correct now, is it? As far as I know the speed-o-meter in a real car would move. But I'm not sure about that, that's how little I know
