Lately i've got somekind of internet problem. I ramdomly lose internet for a while (up to 8 days) then get in back. Everything is plugged in correctly and it has been in the same position for about 2 years (i am talking about the modems)
They tend to get really hot so i allways cool them down, so i guess it's no heat problem.
I dont have wireless internet, i have a internet wire from the wall into a momed that has another wire to get more connections, then a long wire to my room. My mom has paid the bill of the internet but if she hadn't then i think i wouldn't have internet at all. Why would it be turning on and of?

When i dont have internet i can go to i page 192.168.2.1 or something, that is my modem. Then when i dont have internet it says No connection, of course.
And something that i noticed, i dont have these:
Subnet mask
Wan IP
Default Gateway
DNS Address

But now i do as i got internet.


Is it possible with anything?

It sounds like your "modem" could possibly be starting to fail...

Also possible that the phone socket you plug the modem into has some loose wire or wiring problem, In the UK we have a "master socket" (the 1st phone point from the suppliers wire) it has a test socket behind a front cover, connecting to this should give a clean connection without secondary phone points connected, do you have a similar setup in Norway? is the modem plugged into the 1st phone socket in your house?

If you go to page 192.168.0.1 or whatever can you acess connection statistics? or noise ratio?

It could be a problem at your local exchange, or an ISP related problem also
