I suggest that a Formula V6 car be added to LFS to bridge the large gap between the F08 and the FOX. I've been experimenting with tweak, and a formula car similar to the F08 but with around 280-300bhp is a lot more user friendly than the F08, but a lot faster than the FOX. It would provide some more interesting racing on tracks like westhill, as its basically just flat out all the way in the FOX

CTRA had a car called Formula Junior. I think It was a FO8 with 20% intake restriction and a weight penalty of 70kg. The only thing that spoils it is that gearbox bug, where it only cuts the ignition but doesn´t shift up.

Yeah, i had that problem when i reduced the power, but if the devs made it with a standard sequential gearbox, that wouldnt be a problem.

Given that the two current Formula cars (XR and V8) are based somewhat loosely on real cars (XR on Formula Renault 2.0L and V8 on F3000 cars), Formula [Renault] 3.5L would be a bad choice to emulate, as they put out 425hp, pretty close to the FO8's power output.

The upcoming GP3 series would make a bit more sense (though maybe not enough) as they have 2.0L turbocharged I4s putting out 280hp. That's a bit closer to the FOX than it is to the FO8 in my opinion.

The next more powerful Formula car that I know of are the Formula 2 cars that have 1.8L turbocharged I4s puttng out 400hp.

Of course it doesn't have to be based on something in real life, but since all other cars are to some degree it makes it a bit tricky to have a 300-350hp Formula car, since none exist to my knowledge. As a whole I like this idea though, a meaner FOX would be fun.

Formula Holdens fit the bill. The Formula Holden series was basically Australian F3000. Many of the cars' chassis were built by chassis manufacturers whose cars were used in European / International F3000 (including Reynard). They used Holden engines which were based on a production V6 but had a few tweaks to put out in the range of 330-340bhp. For those who are maybe not familiar with Holden they are the Australian subsidiary of GM (like Vauxhall are in the UK).

I've played about a few times with ~250bhp versions of the FOX myself and they're a good laugh. I reckon taking the FO8 and removing some power makes it too easy to drive as the car then feels over tyred (that is it has too much tyre grip, rather than needing a good sleep). If there was an FO8 style car that had a bit less aero and a bit less tyre with ~350bhp it would probably be a good laugh, but I doubt it would make for good racing online as the quicker cars generally make for very difficult good, clean racing.
