Most trackers comes from tpb
It's a matter of principle, The Pirate Bay is legal by Swedish law.
I'm particularly upset with the MPAA & Co when I read things like
Quote :Will Smith leads the pack of Hollywood's best-paid actors, banking an estimated $80 million over the course of the year. Frequently called the hardest-working man in Hollywood, Smith has proved that no matter the genre--be it sci-fi thriller (Warner Bros.' I Am Legend) or sappy drama (Sony's The Pursuit of Happyness)--he can deliver an audience.

The former Fresh Prince of Bel Air star also set a theatrical record this year. Thanks to the commercial success of this summer's anti-superhero flick Hancock, Smith is the first actor in Hollywood history to have eight straight movies eclipse $100 million at the box office.

Coming in second on the list is Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp, an actor who is known to vacillate between commercial work and artier fare. He still managed to pull down $72 million this year.

In this case, the bold-faced star followed up his three turns as Captain Jack Sparrow in Disney's $2.76 billion Pirates franchise with the Stephen Sondheim serial-killer musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Though the latter hardly set box office records, it did earn Depp an Oscar nomination.

With $55 million, Eddie Murphy comes in third among Tinseltown's top earners, thanks to a slew of family-friendly hits. The long-reigning master of disguise continues to prove his range on-screen, playing notable roles in everything from animated flicks (DreamWorks' Shrek) to goofball comedies (DreamWorks' Norbit) to musical remakes (DreamWorks' Dreamgirls). The latter earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

Then there's Austin Powers star Mike Myers, who is tied for third on this list with earnings of $55 million, due in large part to the success of the hit animated franchise Shrek.

But when it comes to live-action fare, the comedy chameleon's ride has been far less smooth in recent years. Despite a stellar cast (including Justin Timberlake and Jessica Alba) and plenty of promotion, Myers' summer comedy The Love Guru failed to deliver at the box office. To date, the Paramount flick has generated only $31.8 million domestically.

Titanic's Leonardo DiCaprio rounds out the top five, raking in $45 million during the year. He's the unique movie star who can get $20 million for work in R-rated adult dramas, which, because of viewer age restrictions, have limited ability to generate big box office numbers.

Quote :An actor getting ridiculous sums of money for TV roles is nothing new; the cast of ‘Friends’ was pulling in a million each in their last season. The current King of Green is Ray Romano who was paid $2 million per episode for the final season of ‘Everybody Loves Raymond.’

And yes, I know there is much more to it, but no-one can deny the fact that the movie industry is doing quite a bit better than they claim and definitely a lot better than anyone they sue.
meh, they will be back tomorrow.
Quote from TPB :Something goes wrong while someone has a flu = 3 days
somebody is drunk = 7 days
Police raids servers = 1 day

It went something like that, i dont remember.

They might just be back.
The whole thing is disgusting, by all means. The whole corporation, or system if you would call it, is just wrong. Now, I do know you should not donwload or share illegal stuff, but when the corporation aims for sivile / random people, it's just disgusting.
Just like the case some months ago in America, a women with 3 child (I think) got sued for MILLIONS, because she had downloaded some mere songs from the internet. Her life was ruined for the selfish corporation's sake. I get upset, angry and generally want to stap all these peopel in charge, aswell as the court system, for letting this happen.
These peopel have no clue what's actually happening around on the internet, so instead they aim for the weak ones. It's a cheap shot and no words can describe how much I hate the movie/music industry. I will NEVER buy anything from them again, before they chose the change their attitute or actually listen on what us custommers want. Instead they run their own ego trip, and just generally makes it a lot more bottersome for their custommers.

Bullshit bullshit bullshit.

We live in the monetary system. Until the system changes (good luck with that any time soon) industries will just behave the way they always did
Well, I am in the belive that a industry needs to adapt to it's custommers, or the industry will stop earning money and eventually listen to what their custommers want. I don't want this "I am custommer hear me roar" attitute, but I want them to stop making silly limitations and other things that just hurts the normal users, because the ones that wants to pirate the thing does it eventually, no limitation can stop that.

Maybe if everyone stopped completely to buy movies/music/cinema tickets, then they would listen to us, who knows

I agree, but for this to happen a lot of people have to start thinking in a different way and stop taking things "as is"*. A minority of people cannot change how things work globally if you are not one of those in power, but then you wouldn't want to change things

* I hope this is the right expression.
As it is you meant?

Yeah, I know what you mean. I don't want the whole thing to die (company/corporation), but I want them to try to adapt to the times we live in, aswell as respecting their custommers some more. I canot justify the action from the pirates, but I understand them (hell, I think everyone of us can admit to have downloaded a movie before), the pricing for these products are high, far too high. You can argue and say they were higher before, but nothing justifies, as here in Norway, movies to a price of 170+ NOK's.

I have made my step, and have not bought anything for some months now, (buyed some S2 lisences but that doesn count, it's not _THAT_ corporation :tilt and will not before there is a change.

235+ NOK's here in Croatia, except for low budget or not so popular movies, they are a little cheaper.
Even more expensive in a country that has less money, that just makes me sick I know everything needs to earn to their "living", but seriously, people that has millions of millions of dollars, should not complain. Look on avarage Joe, shitty jobs compared, and shitty payment aswell, while they sit on their asses and gets money by other people's work.
Now that's just morally failure if you asks me.
A movie should cost max 1euro and a song about 0,1cents

Attempts to stop illegal downloading are completely futile, until someone finds a way to turn off the internet.

And just looking at the profits that are made in Hollywood shows you that piracy is not causing the industry to go bust, the prices are excessive due to nothing but greed, not necessity.

I do agree that prices on entertainment such as films and music should be lower, but I will never try to justify getting something for nothing as fair and legal. The industry needs, and can have some of my money to keep it going, after all, we've all got to make a living somehow, I would imagine you would be fairly pissed off if your boss wanted you to work for nothing. But its clear the industry does not need anything like near the amount of cash it gets.

The whole problem is the various limitations that comes with these stuff, and these fancy new programs they introduce every now and then that shal "stop the pirates" but in the end ****S up for the normal users while the pirates couldn't care less.
Well done, not only are they greedy bastards, they are retarded idiots aswell!

Power to the internet! Glad to see piratebay is back up.
Music companies and movie people are only shitting themselves now about all these download sites because none of them realised the power of the internet back in it's infancy. They've only belatedly realised that they screwed up big time and are now trying to recover some of the costs

Me? I couldn't care less about TPB or any other torrent sites. I've never used torrents as I just don't trust them, I much prefer having a CD or DVD, but the prices nowadays are extortionate and some of the stuff I like I have only found through sites such as specialised music blogs (much better than torrents IMO)
Torrents? It reminds me old times... Nowadays with a megaupload/rapidshare account the p2p programs are part of the internet history
Pirate Bay is being blocked by Ireland's main ISP from September 1st. Welcome to censorship on the internets
