Honda and VW can gtfo
VW lmao, Honda would make sence though.
Quote from lizardfolk :It's a rumor and it's confirmed that NASCAR's "THINKING" about it. They've said that there will not be any timeline or deadline to implementing it. But they are seriously considering it as Honda and Volkswagen are interested in joining the NASCAR constructors if fuel injectors are introduced

I don't know how much fuel injectors would interfere with the racing, but I'd love to see VW in Nascar.
i love the nascar shapes that are now..

UBER bump drafting. i love it lol
For years I have only really watched F1 but now Im starting to get into Nascar, Le Mans Series etc

Ordered up the rather hard to find Nascar 09 for Xbox 360, should keep me entertained for a while Even if its not the best Nascar game ever

Try NR2003, great game(err simulator)

EDIT: There's also the VHR mod for Rfactor. It's not that realistic, but it's mighty fun to race online with other folks.
lol Mustafur you reminded me of how herbie attatched himself to Dale Jarrett's bumper.
There actually have been VW beetles that have competed in NASCAR way back when.
Quote from SidiousX :There actually have been VW beetles that have competed in NASCAR way back when.

herbie?
Quote from PMD9409 :So then they have an excuse. What's the excuse in other series?

"flavour flav told me to"
I don't know about Beetles, but IIRC there was a race around that time where it was NASCAR regulars versus European motors on an oval and it was somewhat close (?), and with a bit of googling a Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaag won a race in '54.
Quote from lizardfolk :All jokin aside, I wonder why NASCAR needs to enforce a "single" template body for each manufacture? Just because it's stock car doesnt mean each car has to be exactly the same.

Look at Turismo Carretera. Pretty awesome series imho:

That windcreen must bee bloody hard to see out of

Entering a NASCAR Strictly Stock race used to be much easier.

Jag ought to make a return to NASCAR. They seem to have some pretty slick sedans these days. It might be a pretty useful marketing tool to get their name back into the minds of Americans as well.
Quote from LFSn00b :/me imagines nascar versions of Honda CR-X and VW Beetle

I'm imagening a Golf TDI.
What about the Scirocco?

Wouldn't an ALMS programme (and IIRC they are about to start one) be better for promoting their cars against more similar competition to their road cars? EDIT : Yes, Rocketsports are about to run a XKR in GT2 starting at PLM.
Yes

It would be pointless however, with dwindling grids, except for Sebring/Petit LM (with the class merge (LMP/GT) next year, it's looking ominously like Grand-Am)
Aren't they running Porsche Cup cars to replace GT1 or something? Surely a GT3 class would be a better option ...

Unless they are to promote the E-type, yes. They should probably spend their money on ads at golf tournaments instead.
(maybe I should not taunt NASCAR for being the amish of motorsport but I can't help myself)

Clearly you haven't been following ALMS much.
