LFS.exe causes error [solved : overheating]
Hi folks! I have windows XP and LFS patch U.
Sometimes after two minutes, sometimes after one hour or longer the screen turns balck for two seconds and after that, my windows says, LFS.exe caused an error and needs to be closed. The sound remains on in a circle and makes a "blop" two times in a second or so. It doesn'n matter if I'm only looking a race on a server or if I drive. After that I can restart the the LFS.exe and everything is fine till the next crash. This isn't funny at all. Especially in the middle of a race.
I can't remember having such problems in earlier patch versions.
Drawatson says, that everything is ok all the time.
I have a Gigabyte GF6600 GT. I reinstalled the game and tried out different settings on graphics a.s.o. I have nothing overclocked.
Has anybody an idea what to try out next?
Here are two pics from the error screens.

Many thanks in advance.
Regards and take care.

Is it always the same offset 000c5baa ?
Maybe it's related to a sound or wheel driver, because iirc Scawen said the errors in LFS start with a 4, thus 00004xxx

Have you overclocked and hardware, or problems in other games?
Yes, the offset is always the same.
I don't have overlocked someting.
Also other games I play work fine. No problems.
The CPU and GPU temperature are fine as well.
I only have one driver for my Formula Force GP. The latest version from logitech.
And the sound driver is the newest.
Thats strange.
So what I'm supposed to do?
I didn' play LFS for about three months. I think I last used patch Q.
I never had such problems three months ago.

Thanks for your help.

Gregor
Perhaps the text from the debug.log is in any way helpfull? Please see below. I changed the driver of my sound card. The error remains. I drove without the tool from Logitech for my wheel. The error remains. Nothing reached so far.
Please, has anyone an idea?
Many thanks in advance.

Regards, Gregor

Hi,
Do you have installed latest chipset drivers and sound drivers. If not, please try to update them.
If yes,try a bit older sound driver.I know its confusing but sometimes the most new driver doesnt mean the best one.
You need to click one more blue button to make the crash report useful.

I can't get anything from "Offset" - I need the "Address".
Found it!
First of all I want to thank you all for helping me.
I found out the reason for my problem. It was a thermical one.
The newest temperature reporting tool for my shuttle barebone due a bug reported wrong temperatures. It showed that the temperature inside the barebone was ~40°C. In reality it was a bit over 60°C. I found out with MotherBoardMonitor 5. So the GPU fan was not able to cool the GPU by quirling hot air arround. At the moment I have the barebone with open case at my desk and everything is fine.
Scawen, sorry that I wasted your time without trying out everything before posting here. Thank you for this great game which I can now enjoy again.
Have a nice weekend.
Take care

Gregor
