How to delete the "filerepository" folder of windows?
Hi lads,

I want to delete the folder "filerepository" because it's 1,5 gigs. But idiot system won't let me delete it.I've been trying for hours but can't find a way on google too.
Can anyone help me please?

..and yes i know it's just a folder to keep loads of drivers which might be used in case you plug in some new device.
Why do you need to delete it? If you have diskspace problems, those 1.5GB wont help you out for a long time. Solution: Bigger HDD.

My windows folder is somehow 27Gb. I was trying to slim it down.
27GB?!

No idea how you manage to do that, mine is roughly 5GB. However, generally it is not a good idea to go and delete stuff from your windows folder. Maybe it's time for re-installing?
My WinXP NTR2 is just 500mb
Anyway, boot the system in safe mode and try it. I dunno if it's possible but you can customize your Windows disc with nlite/vlite and remove whatever you want.

The PC i'm using atm (PC#2, fairly uncrapped up copied of 7 RC) has a 13.5GB Windows folder...

EDIT - Although on CarPC it's got an ISO for XP WITH ALL THE DRIVERS of 340MB

I got 170MB XP ISO with all drivers I need (home edition), my epen0r is longer.

I don't know how i managed to make it 27gb... But yesterday i disabled the sleep mode thingy and that cleaned 8gigs.(from root) I'm using vista 64 by the way and it's my office computer so i can't re-install windows or add a new hdd.
I've been using it for 2 years by now and i have installed/uninstalled thousands of softwares/demos/utilities.Maybe that's why.
Maybe you have System Restore activated, it´s crap. You can also try to clean the system with CCleaner, Advanced Vista Optimizer or any other kind of software for that purpose.
I checked the sys restore but it's already turned off. I also found out that "winsxs" folder is making all the mess. I'm tryin' to install sp2 now but it gives the legendary 8007007A error. I'll try to install it manually tomorrow. They say it fixes that folder and slims it down.
How about SP3? SP2 should have been installed ages ago...

Heh.

Launch command prompt with admin access, type "powercfg -h off". This will free up amount of your RAM from your HDD, e.g. if you have 4GB RAM, a 4GB file HIBERFIL.SYS will be deleted from your drive root.

You need to take the ownership of those files. Here's how: http://www.mydigitallife.info/ ... issions-in-windows-vista/
