Gear change blip
Hi All,

I just had a look at some of the hot laps on lfsworld and took a test drive with a hotlap's car setup. The gears changed "differently" than they usually do when I drive my own car setup. From the hotlap charts I know that the hotlap was done with "gear change blip" what I guess explains the different behaviour. My question to you are.

1. What is gear change blip?As far as I can judge it gave me an advantage while accelerating and with top speed. I also noticed that it gave me a harder time while breaking. I couldn't use my usual breaking points. But all together I gained at least 0.5 sec on a 1.44.00 lap. Are my obseravtions correct, especially the "breaking part"?

2. How do I enable gear change blip?

3. Is it okay to use gear change blip anytime I want, any server, any race?

4. Shouldn't everyone use gear change blip since it makes you faster?

Thanks for your answers,
Miba
you are confused somewhere
gear change blip gives the engine a 'blip' when the clutch is pushed in and a lower gear is selected, avoiding rear wheel lockup from compression.

What Blowtus said. Gear change blip helps you not to lock up the tires when braking and downshifting. I guess you mean "throttle cut on upshift". If you turn that off, the engine will rev up while the clutch is pushed in (during an upshift). It's totally ok to have it turned off on any server or in any race. You don't really wanna turn it off in the really fast cars (FO8, BF1 etc.) though, cause it's very easy to spin the wheels a little on upshifts if you shift without lifting the throttle.

Thanks bal00,

I meant "throttle cut on upshift". I read some other posts on that topic and it got clearer to me. However, I will have to change the language settings of my lfs installation from German to English. It's just much easier to get around the lfs world while sticking to English vocabulary.
