The online racing simulator
Ima join in, even though it must be painfully obvious to everyone its unlikely they'll change anything at this stage, or at all given their public opinions on matters in the past.

- Poles are fine while they're there, but if a car clips it then its removed until theres a significantly sized gap where it can reappear unnoticed, meaning the actual limit as decided by the layout isnt enforcable if nobody can hope to know where it is.

- Tyres dont do any damage to whoever clips them, can upset the car and be a problem but thats their fault. If hit hard in a particular way, they can end up being a bigger problem for the guys following behind, who've done nothing wrong. Also a disappeared tyre is still an invisable marker point for the acceptable limit.

- Concrete is about the only thing that'll be there from the SC lap to the flag.

Now, when we have admin's in this series, running other series proclaiming Safety Car laps are done because of *realism*, if someone clips a tyre and puts it into the path of another driver, why is that unthinkable in LFS? Does this not happen IRL? Nobody wants other peoples races ruined by someone elses mistake, however during the race theres usually plenty of instances where another cars actions ruin someones race, but we have to accept that these things happen in racing, other cars actions often have a direct impact on others.

I dont like the idea of tyres (though they're better than badly designed corners!), and basically once they're tapped they'll disappear after a moment and your back at the same place you were before. IMO if a post cant be seen on the track because its been clipped, then theres still a very visable red/white/red/white line pointing the way, and that isnt going anywhere. Its not as visable as a cone, but when you dont see one, and decide your going to abuse that and hug the next visable object instead, the stripey outline of the corner should be clear as day where your supposed to be driving to take the corner correctly.
But that red/white/red/white line represents a curb. So going over it means nothing really.
It delineates the edge of the corner. Going over it is nobody's fault but your own.

The way the corner is set up at the moment, you are able to go 2-wheels over the curb without hitting the tires. This is pretty standard for most corners in LFS. You'll hit the single pole, but that's really there as a further reference point, except in qualifying, where hitting it will invalidate your lap.
It means thats where the limit is though, just because its coloured to match a curb, but the driver cant say they dont know where they're supposed to be going just because half a dozen tyres are missing, and they feel like ignoring the red/white line under the claim of there being no pole marking whats acceptable and whats not.

If it was being treated like a normal curb, with the 2 wheels on the track rule being applied, i dare you to make that same arguement after Q1 & Q2, when your time is invalidated for going beyond it They wont care that someone else clipped the post, its clear where it should be by the floor markings. If they let people go over the pole spot when its invisable and claim it as a clean lap, people will be up in arms saying its unfair.

They dont want you going closer than that point. In qual it invalidates your lap, and in the race excessive cutting will be penalised. That red and white marking signals where the admins are willing to draw the line, as does the post. Just because 1 movable item is missing doesnt make it acceptable to pretend the acceptable limit has changed.
The tires have been always pain in the arse. Just like they are on Aston GT, GP etc at that final chicane and people keep crashing into them and so do others because they are all over the place there and no serious actions are not taken so far, AFAIK.

I came up with something myself what would suit pretty good as a "curb" only and with some barriers.

The "curb" could be a bit more far from barriers though.

EDIT: Tried at the other side too, what might even be better, just like the Westhill chicane or similar to it, to prevent cutting too much. Would make everyone's life easier.

There is no need for all this layout crap.. Put some small tires on the inside of the left and right curb just so there is enough space for two wheels.. Nobody will try cut because of tyres and bumps on chicane It's the same for everyone there isn't much need for all this imo.

Even better would be to replace ky3 with bl1..

Hi, what is the correct starting time for Westhill?

"6 Hours of Westhill International: December 5th, 14:00 UTC"

or as in the attached file: 12:00 UTC?
