Yep MA or Jimmy Richards. He is the raining king!
Yeah would love to see them go Laguna.
Quote from Mustafur :unless your name is Marcos Ambrose

haha. if thats the cases they you would dominate the race, but crash out at the last corner of the last lap. :P

but in all seriousness, if you look at last year's IndyCar at surfers, when the track was wet during the race, there were soooo many drivers spinning out on the track. The track wasn't even that wet, yet many drivers managed to spin out. No offense to the Americans on this site, but the quality of the drivers from the US is terrible.

I'd love to see them in CZ in Brno or Most. Would be awesome to see them here, i love this series.. i'll keep dreaming.
Although it could become ridiculously commercialised afterwards and FIA would probably want piece of the cake too.

More than half of the drivers in IndyCar aren't Americans.

surfers is a strret track as well so there is next to no rubber on the track as well.

indy is filled with alot of ex f1 drivers these days.

Eh? If you mean ex-F1 test drivers, then there are a few. But ex-F1 race drivers?

What I basically ment, well Justin Wilson is the only one.
I just realised Andy Priaulx, Ben Collins and James Thompson are racing at Bathurst 1000 this weekend
Quote from NSX_FReeDoM :I just realised Andy Priaulx, Ben Collins and James Thompson are racing at Bathurst 1000 this weekend

Priaulx = 25th
Collins = 24th
Thompson = 17th

Not bad for a bunch of aliens.
James Thompson was blocking everywhere, he just ignored the blue flags....

The other two did pretty good. On the telecast it had Priaulx and Whincup as "Wtcc champion verse v8 supercar champion"

Priaulx was applying the pressure. Hope he comes again next year.

yeah Priaulx finished 12th. When the track was wet, Priaulx was so much faster than the 888 car.

It rained a bit when the Indy race was on.

To be fair, a lot of the cars were faster than the 888 car, that and the Skaife/Murphy car didn't like the wet at all. Was nice to see Priaulx hustling some big names though.
and also consider the clutch on the 888 car kept getting jammed.

Are we talking about the 2008 race here,it was 35c, the hottest day of my 3 week family visit.

Yes. It was a partially wet track in qualifying at least. A lot of drivers either spun, went up escape roads or crashed in the wet conditions.
I remember seeing the porsches qualifying on TV in the wet but it was glorious on race day,a taste of what the Aussie summer is like.

I think what you've got to remember is that those Dallara IRL chassis are designed for high speed, low drag oval racing. And regardless of how many extra wings you bolt on, the car is always going to be sluggish and difficult to handle on a road course. Also bear in mind that these drivers get very little track time on road courses, skill comes through experience, and if you dont get the experience then you can be as gifted as you like but you'll never be as skilled as someone who gets to drive on road courses in the rain all the time.
Remember that Surfers Paradise is a temporary street circuit. Unlike some temporary street circuits, it isn't resurfaced for races. And due to there being so little rain in this region, when some drops falls in, the roads become ridiculously slippery.
Does anyone know what happened to Ritter/Besnard at Bathurst on the weekend? They were in with a chance of winning until around lap 140 and the safety car where they dropped to 13th. I've watched the coverage about 3 times now but have managed to miss this point every time.

Basically they lost out when Canto crashed and caused the safety car at the end of lap 140. Immediately before Canto crashed the #33 car had just over a minute lead over the #2 car (1:04.174 to be exact) and the #33 car had to stop one more time to make it to the end on fuel. The #33 car should have made it out ahead of the #2 car with that lead. Just after the #33 car passed pit entry the #5 car was shown at the esses in the wall (obviously going to cause a safety car to come out) but #33 were already passed pit entry so they had to follow the SC for a lap before they could make it in. During this SC lap the field compressed and the time gap between the #33 and #2 cars vanished. The #33 car pitted at the end of the first SC lap but obviously they got buried because all the people who were behind the SC and didn't pit got past them.
Oh god that sucks, and must have been incredibly unlucky. So the safety car came out in the period that they were between pit entrance and exit, which must only be about 15 seconds or so? Feel sorry for them, really wanted them to do well after leading it for so long, and just being up at the sharp end in the first place!

Cheers for explaining.

Yep, very unlucky timing. If you have a copy of the coverage (which I assume you do since you've watched it a few times before) look at the Craig Lowndes interview when the #33 car is on lap 140. Lowndes was just explaining about the clutch pedal and then went on to talk about what Whincup would do in the last stint. On the right of screen you see the #33 car exiting the chase and just about to go under the "ARMOR ALL" bridge (which is about 50-100 metres from the start of the pit entry). Then the camera changes quickly to show Canto's car resting on the wall at the esses. Even if the team had called the #33 car in immediately as they saw the #5 car stranded at the side of the track the #33 car would have had great difficulty making it into pitlane.
