James Thompson has taken the European Touring Car Cup title after a 3rd and 1st place in the 2 races at Braga.

Harry Vaulkhard also proved he isnt that good yet again by throwing his Lacetti off whilst leading.

James Thompson in my mind is the best touring car driver in the world at the moment, no matter what he drive's it ends up right near the front even if it is a complete dog (Lada/BTCC Civic) and he wins in everything he enters, like DTC he nearly won the title in his first full season in the series.

And he drove in like 30 million different series this year, didn't he? If he stuck to one series, surely he would dominate. But apparently sticking all your eggs in one basket isn't his style!

i think he just enjoys doing what he does and jumps at any oppertunity that arrises, properly good driver.

Always liked that guy. :bowdown: I remember some nice races against him in TOCA2 with the Honda Accord

As regards to him being in loads of different series all in one year, wouldn't it just be down to money? A few different teams want him to drive for them, so he drives for all of them!

Yes, at the end of the day racing cars pay the bills,

ummm well arent Lada in big financial trouble? i wouldnt be surprised to see them dissapear and also if Thommo doesnt get an offer from a top team next year then i dont think they're on the same planet as us. If he was in an RML Chevy with Menu, Huff, Muller and Giovanardi next year then i think he and the team would be absolutely unstoppable

His performances in V8 Supercars haven't been very impressive (even in the championship winning car).

But isn't that just a one off event? He has absolutely no experience in those cars, which are unlike anything else and facing some very stiff competition with a lot of local knowledge, in some of the most challenging tracks.

My praise for him is exagarrated but he is a class act, I believe he did better than Priaulx and Bell Collins in V8?

Correct, and his car broke with 8 or so laps to go, so all-in-all, it wasn't a bad performance

E: He did better in Phillip Island, but the car broke in Bathurst.

It isn't the first time Thompsons raced a V8 supercar if I remember correctly.
