Also the model is definately not proportioned ud have to follow the blueprints lol...
Just another question: do you drive with the shifter to your right or to your left? As you're Australian, I think it is to your left, but I'd rather have this confirmed.

Shifter is to the left for Australians.
I can't understand what's the point to make a cockpit? It isn't enough to drive normally by sitting just on the chair? Why it's needy to create such a spaceship and just wasting worthy time on it.
it adds to the effect

its pretty much the only way i get to drve anything, so why settle for just sitting in a chair, mine is not too special but it is pretty good, basically you just ased the question why use lfs when need for speed gives you the same thing, just a little less realistic
Quote from seniecka :I can't understand what's the point to make a cockpit? It isn't enough to drive normally by sitting just on the chair? Why it's needy to create such a spaceship and just wasting worthy time on it.

some reasons why:

1) Screen was too high on a normal desk, now with a proper rig my in game dials now appear through the gap in g25 wheel opening. Also the g25 wheel super-imposes (hides) the virtual wheel in other games where it cannot be turned off.

2) Pedals are too low in a desk chair. Feels like driving in a 4WD or a bus when your knees are at 90 degrees. I had to raise my pedals up under my desk and they still weren't high enough.

3) Desk chair kept sliding backwards on its castor wheels. Now my chair can be tilted and slide fowards and backwards.

4) $10 Real car seat is twice as comfortable than even a mid-ranged office chair for long stints.

5) g25 shifter can only be mounted to the desk next to the wheel. Now I have the shifter right next to my thigh and also I now have an arm rest.

6) Hard mounted handbrake in a natural position.

7) Keyboard placed behind the wheel or on the side of the desk creates back-ache when typing, now I have my KB at arms rest and I do not have to lean forward to type or to use the mouse.

8) Vibrations from the wheel FFB transfer into the frame and you feel it in your seat.

9) It's fully sick.

your setup sounds perfect, can i see a diagram or picture or video or anything on how it is? i have the general stance but yours seems perfect tbh

indeed it does sound pretty hefty +1
i wonder if the rhinoseat, i have been obsessing over has the same amount of 'heft'

Thanks, much work went into it. There are links to my rig in my signature here.
my personal goal is to have 3 moniters, a real handbrake set up, inverted (top mounted) g25 pedals, a little keyboard stand that goes somewhere along my lap but does not get in the way (somehow), and the perfect sports car stance (seat wise )
thats amazing
was making my design a waste of time? Because ive been done with it for a while i know its not great but its within the boundaries of what you wanted. Any peliminary ranking yet?
Ex:
1st Bmxtwins
2nd Bmxtwins
3rd Bmxtwins (obviously im not all of them and maybe not any of them)

Quote from blakehoo88 :good work, i think you win so far

Thanks a lot for the comments

Why do you say that? I think aoun just wants to have more people taking part in this, and will probably wait some other entries (after all, it is running since last month).
i hope this competition will stay on for few more days....
i have some ideas.
i give up.

Hey guys, i have a good 5-6 entries so far. Some from the post, some from emails.

Some people are just finishing up their designs, so i guess because its such a small number of entries, ill give them some time, however, if they simply take too long, ill close the entries and post a winner and runner up.
Quote from Martin L :here is a quick look how it could be, it's not finished yet.

Update: here is an adjustable monitor shelf (i have wrote wrong on picture 'sheel') and adjustable pad for pedals.

I think he wanted MDF wood

Im just anxious xD. IMO people should be done by now.

As for my design" Simplicity is the mother of invention "- Someone lol
on the other hand Bokujishin's looks very intricate and hard to design.

You should post all your mail received entries in this thread as well - for various reasons.

You have a point.
I did not do mine thinking about simplicity, but thinking about the "open-wheeler feeling" aoun asked, and I think I managed to recreate this. But you're right, it is a bit complicated (especially for the keyboard support, spent a few days thinking ).
Whether I can win or not, I will soon proceed with the placement of the screws and get the exact dimensions, as it will look better after that (it is supposed to, at least).
The design itself, however, should stay as it is now (except if I find something to change).

+1, the names of the participants and pictures of their entries should be posted here, as you asked us to do so

The others i have been in talks with and them showing me their designs are lopino and tonix.
Is the competition still open? I'm already making steering wheels, figure I'll try to get in the cockpit business too. Besides, I really like drawing in AutoCad.

Couple questions (feel free to call me an idiot if they've already been answered):

1. Should pedals be adjustable?
2. Should it be completely enclosed, or are openings here and there acceptable?
