Saw Franchise
Basically a simple question to all you bright argumentitive people.

Should the Saw franchise have been stopped long ago?

I am personally now getting pretty sick of it. I know I know, "dont like it dont watch it", but I really fail to see how people can still be interested in it after 6 movies already?! I heard two more are in the making. Thats freaking 8 movies about a pissed off clown/doll killing people. Does it not get boring?

I think they should of just concluded the so called "storyline" after the 3rd movie.....

Now they are just trying to milk off as much millions as possible off this franchise....

Meh... Movies these days....

Yeahhhh.
Should have been stopped when the guy had the idea for the first one, IMO.
I remember watching one of the Saw movies, don't quite remember which one it was and I really liked the ending. The rest was stupid but when they explained what had actually happened I found it amazing. But they're exagerating now... I think 2-3 would've been more then enough lol.
I didn't mind the first couple, then they just kept bringing them out. I still watch them but they're all just a bit...meh now.

It really makes you wonder what the writer does in his spare time. He's got some pretty sick thoughts to show the world in a series of films.

And I agree with DevilDare. Movies these days...

E: Has anyone seen screenshots for the game? I laughed at it.
Should have been stopped before the first one.

I have the full game and.... well... was it supposed to be scary? If so, then it's a big fail. If it's supposed to show some kind of torture to the characters, then it's win. Graphics are good, it uses physx, and generally speaking it's is a very good game. However, it's not scary. At all. And I'm one of the most scared people in the world lol.

Though I'm stuck in a part where I have to figure out how to disable some bombs... I just couldn't figure it out and stopped playing. Might get back into it later.

I imagine it'll be like Lost:Via Domus. It was such a cheesy game but was one of those games you had to keep playing. Some of the puzzles were quite difficult.

If I ever see the Saw game going cheap somewhere i'll probably pick it up for chuckles. The screenshots did look quite amusing.

As for scary games, the last time i've seen anyone get scared at a game was when my mate was playing Condemned. I'd just traveled 400 miles and had pretty much crashed out in the arm chair. All of a sudden he was screaming like a little girl which woke me up. Bastard.
As long as Saw movies keep making a profit, they will keep making them. Obviously it's just a money grab, but it seems to be working, even though they are crap.
I quite enjoy them. I lost interest in the plot long ago and now just watch it for the pleasure of the various torture methods.
I got bored of Saw last one i saw was 3 and i was bored shitless.
The only thing Saw was good for, was for the guys from scary movie to make a pun on it.

"It's the wrong foot!"
The first one was brilliant, after that it went downhill fast... The lowest point was probably the third, which I can only classify as gore-porn - with its close-up shots of every possible major injury... The first lived of its psychological violence, there is almost no gore in it... But it seems that in order to attract people nowadays you have to be more violent than anything else out there, the new peak in showing violence - cheap filmmaking in my book, but apparently I'm not the target group for some time now...
Anyone who "enjoys" those films, I'd say have a questionable state of mind.
Why? I enjoyed the first one. And I enjoy the Hannibal Lecter series as well. But I don't actually want to hack people up or eat them. My state of mind is fine.
The first one I'll give you, the rest are pure torture porn, nothing more, nothing less.

I just find the idea of people enjoying that worrying.

Please don't try to draw parallels between Saw and any other film with a storyline and decent acting, Saw films are about torture, pain, gore and nothing else, no story, nothing.
Good answer

However, I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with liking the films just to see what imaginative ways of hurting people the directors/writers etc can come up with... You could argue it's quite similar to the Final Desination series, which was just an hour and a half of funny ways to hurt/kill people.

As with nearly all things like that, the first one is the only good one.
I dunno, Saw to me just seems to be snuff for the masses, snuff without actually killing real people, I just find it odd that people get kicks out of stuff like that.

Each to their own I guess though.
It's not like we've not seen excessive gore and death before with films like Braindead or the Phantasm series.

No, of course not, however, IMO, Saw harks back to the "video nasties" of way back when, but at least they had some sembelence of a story.

Its not the gore or the death thats the problem, heck, you can have a death toll in its thousands in some films, its the way it portrayed to the audience.
