There's a 15 mile version already out there, but the full 37.76 mile course is on the way. Actually, it's been on the way for ages now, but the clip on youtube looks spot on. Been driving a few laps of the real thing in preparation for the GPL version
Got as far as this, and the GEMP2.exe doesn't install. It asks me to choose a language, but doesn't show any options, and nothing happens when I try to click OK past it.
Don't run that one, run the other .exe in that zip.
Working fine for me this far, although I'm having graphic issues. On Dx7 mode I've just got a section of it in the top left corner. Get fullscreen in OpenGL mode but it crashes when I try to exit to a menu. I'll sort something
GPL runs as only a small square in the top corner of the screen
- The line in the core.ini:
[ Direct3D7 ]
DirectMirrorRendering = 1
Change it to
DirectMirrorRendering = 0
Hope it works
Haven't tried the Dino... I read somewhere it's the F1 car with another body although that basically was the case in real life too.
Exactly!!
First time I saw the sea my jaw dropped! It's marvellous.
You downloaded the HiRes Targa and its addons, didn't you ?
Ginetto, one of the track's authors, prefers to run it with the cars included in the 1965 mod, less powerful, more forgiving and easier to drive in general...
Yes, some links in that wiki are old/outdated, that was confusing to me, too.
GPL CD is required, sorry. Buy one, it's cheap!
In the 67-update zip there is the 1.3 patch and a fundamental update to GEM+. Replace your GEM+ exe with this one.
If you plan to install mods, create a player for each mod, say Ripley65, Ripley66, and so on...
Mods available are 65, 66, 69 and Thunder Cars. Each has its "long track" support patch, all downloadable from http://gpltd.bcsims.com/
If all this sounds a bit confusing, GPL came out in 1998, that's why, simple as that!
But there are many other mods in the works, community still rocks at SRMZ, there's a lot of add-ons, TrackIR support, G25 support, future DFGT and G27 (promised) support (see here http://jsj.proboards.com/index ... on=display&thread=174) real-time on-screen race data, tons of tracks, setups, online races and chat lobby...just name it, you've got it!

Ok, ok, now I've read all the thread, I'll try to do my best....
Grand Prix Legends (GPL) IS picky.
During install, and before adding mods, make whole-folder backups in between 'cause you could mess it up.
I recently bought GPL and have been thoroughly looking for some install guides on the web, and just as you've found out, situation is a bit confusing (at least, for GPL newbies). I also found many outdated guides or websites, even by years, so I wrote one myself, after few days spent searching for info.
My WinXP oriented GPL install guide contains 2 news, 1 good and 1 bad.
The good one is that it has a full sequence of step-by-step updated links from top to bottom, and each install step is commented and detailed.
The bad one is that it is written in Italian ;-)
I link it here, to your deep pleasure. I could think myself of translating it into English one day...maybe. Or you could start studying Italian.
It only looks difficult, but it's not, just follow the links in the same order as they appear, and you'll be sent to the relevant webpages, or forums articles, where you can read instructions in English.
Of course, you need an original GPL CD in the drive, there are links up here this thread to where to buy it.
Never EVER speak again about that chicane... dammit... I hate that !@%*§ Chicane! :chairs:
LOL, and I thought it´s only me... that chicane is insane. Either I go much too slow or I go "yes, smoooth... comeon... yess... i make it! I MAKE IT! I MAKE.... BOOOM... WTF!". I always lose my wheels there when I want to go fast. Luckily you can´t fall into the harbour like in Real life
Yeah it is vicious, and unfortunately it did claim a life that year.
I've installed the mod that supposedly makes it more realistic, now its even harder, I'm doing a championship against the ai at the momnt and I'm 3 seconds off the pace at Monaco.
