Drive the FZR ...
rofl was gonna post this but its just stupid, devs gonna do anything bout this?
Quote from Vykos69 :... in rFactor:

Holy sh**.Hope DEVs will be lucky to do something against it.
Its a shame that something like this happend
are there any screens of that mod?
and why not letting rF benfit of a great LFS car

well, the physics might be unrealistic in rF, but we don't have to drive that car in there!
we got the original one hehehe

EDIT:
got one:

Yup, someone should PM Victor about it, or contact Scawen somehow. I very much doubt that the makers of this mod have any official "ok" from the devs and I hope they remove that mod asap.

earm...sorry, but other mod also don't have official ok...
i don't think that they have to ask the devs if the can do such a mod, as
long they don't sell it!

correct me if i'm wrong!
Meh, you have a point :/

I still dislike that they pollute our FZR with the shoddy rFactor physics.
it looks like crap in Rf
And as long as the devs havent pattented the model, and as long nobody says it's theirs, and they don't sell it... I don't think you can do much about it
no they have to have permission as it is promoting rfactor with lfs material how is that fair? 2 different devs
We should have that kind of wheels in LFS. They look very nice compared to what we have atm.
I'm not sure, but I don't think the devs of Rf made this mod, so they have nothing to do with it, or is it official? I do like those wheels tho. But about the mod, I don't think anyone can do much about it.
As seen on http://www.liveforspeed.net/?page=CMX

So... anyone downloaded it and checked if they did this? I guess they did, otherwise just warn them and they'll probably include it without more problems.
There is no ReadMe in the Zip file, no sign of any acknowledgement of LFS
Quote from Thorvertonian :There is no ReadMe in the Zip file, no sign of any acknowledgement of LFS

Exactly,

They break the Copyright rules as ther in no readme file,no link to Liveforspeed. The mod doesnt mentioned anythinbg what Scawen mentioned.

Also one more thing. Is it using the original skin(the white one) in that ZIP file breaking the copyright rules of LFS as well?
They took that file, made a skin on that and using it in rFactor. So in fact rFactor using LFS original game files.Does it break the rules as well??

I think its like I would use Windows system file and intergared it in Linux(sure this doesnt work but I couldnt find some other comparsion quickly)and used it in Linux. This is copyright breakdown.
What's the penalty on breaking this copyright?
Quote from sgt.flippy :What's the penalty on breaking this copyright?

Its up to DEVs.They can be nice and ask the creator of the mod to included the copyright requirements.
In the worst case they can ask the company to take down the file is it break the copyright rules or in even worst case sue the creator of the mod.

Still,I think they break the copright even more with using original LFS file.
As far as I know, Ian.H from dSRC LFS team has made an LFS mod for rFactor. This could very well be from his mod. There is a dS autos skin in that zip somewhere too. This could be his conversion... but I think he only did the XRT.

I doubt very much that this is Ian.H's work, its very shoddy indeed and Ians work has always been very high quality.

The model in rFactor doesnt even have any glass, they seem to have lost all the glass components in the conversion. Also the car only has street tyres, so I'm not quite sure how it counts as an FZR. I suspect its just the physics from an existing car with the fzr mesh tagged on.

As I read the extract from the license agreement, it is fine to do this, provided LFS is credited. It would certainly be interesting if someone did a serious and detailed conversion of an LFS car to get the most direct comparison possible.

Also, I'm pretty sure there are some GPL and Racer versions of LFS tracks knocking about which havent been stamped on.

I'm pretty sure Ian's put it on hold ... or cancelled it. He started doing the FXR aswell

and he probably would've done a better job
although you've gotta admit, LFS cars do look pretty good at the 'ring. If you can get past the shoddy GFX of rFactor.

I've got no problem personally with this, it's just a shame about the quality of the conversion, might detract (although not much) from LFS' image.

I've gotta admit i love rFactor for one thing - It reminds me how good LFS really is.
lol @ last post
Of course.
I think the point is, that they took Eric's work (the CMX mesh) and converted it to ISI compatible format. If they had modelled it from scratch then there wouldn't be a problem, but when taking the mesh you have to follow the explicitly stated copyright conditions. The protected work is not the "FZ50" but the mesh by Eric (I think).

So if we were to model Ferrari cars in a future S3 it would be okay, it wouldn't be okay if we took someone elses Ferrari model and converted it to LFS format.
