That's stealing IMO.

Phlos managed to do that a while ago
You can get LOTS of data via LFSWorld, using the replay analyser. Just select "Setup info" and you'll see.
Even if you could easily extract the setup from the WR spr changes are you won't be able to take it to the limit due it being so extreme and so crazily driven.
What's more,if a WR holder doesn't want to share his set why should you look for a way to steal it?

Don't be an idiot now...

It's not like you get the set, jump into the car and beat the WR.
How many WR's do you have, sir?
I have none,i don't play LFS that much and i really don't care about beating a WR.
Aren't you denying the fact that some records are made by driving onto the very limit of the phisics engine?
No im not saying you can jump in and beat a WR with their set, but saying their undriveable and tweaked massively for the driver is a load of bs. All ive ever driven are WR and quick guys setups since day 1.

I duno what this has to do with anything but i currently have 4 WR's. All done with other peoples sets, ive never made a set to suit me and i drive every car on pretty much every combo. Trying to get him to not drive WR's sets is completely bonkers, if you can't drive them your seriously lacking any driving skills.

The point is that it's better to make a set on your own,so you can adapt it to your driving style rather than just downloading everything and drive in 10 different manners.
But,the question was:should i try to steal a set the creator didn't want to share?The answer is:NO!.
Haven't we had this discussion at least twice already, regarding software that's able to extract setup data from SPRs.. Back then I was against obtaining data not available from the LFSW analyser, but it was deemed legit afaik.

Why is it? Maybe having these sets and changing his driving style is the answer? But ill think you'll find most sets for cars are ripped from set in these packs, you'll definately have a stolen set from one of these packs or part of one, does that make you a bad person too? These packs have been around a long time and id say 80% of the hotlappers will have had one...

This is what a lot of people would call "reinventing the wheel." Taking a known quick set and making fine adjustments to your liking is much more effective than starting from scratch. Adapting a setup to your own driving style hardly ever requires drastic changes.
WR's are not perfection (well some of the obviously are) its rather the ability to not fail and get everything, every corner right down to one exact lap.
Quote from JPeace :people have been banned before for attempting to extract setups from .spr files. and i think they succeded but the devs closed them down and punished them for it.

if i were you, i wouldnt get involved in this.

got anything to back that up? i was under the impression that replays didn't contain enough information for it to be worth it, if it was even possible.
Well phlos has done it, so its possible, i have some of the packs myself... Apparently his site was shut down by victor but this is a rumor, hes now banned from the forum but he did alot of things to contribute to that, i don't know if he ripped the sets before or after he was banned.

Ofcourse the spr has enough setup info contained in it, you can test drive someones setup from an spr, i think if you removed this feature it could stop it.
it was stealing like a year ago, now noone cares

Yeap, its the skills that matters now

The replay does contain the full setup information, otherwise it wouldn't be possible to watch or "test drive" the replay at all.
so lfsw own hotlap analyser is a hack too? xD
The hotlap analyser doesn't extract the setup, though. I'm pretty sure it loads up a special LFS instance that just replays the hotlap and reports if the replay is HLVC invalid or goes OOS.

u sure? it extracts a fair bit

Car
Mass
Mass Sprung
Mass Brake Force
Final Drive Ratio
Gear Ratios

Tyre Type
Susp. Stiffness
Bump Damp
Reb. Damp
Max Susp travel
Anti Roll

only things u dont get is the steering and camber/pressures or wings

Duuuuh, I was thinking of the wrong thing :dunce:

I completely forgot there is a hotlap analyser and confused it with the LFSW hotlap validation.
All setup data is stored in RAF file.

Quote from Intermediate07 :WR setups are not always the best

I agree , mainly because WR sets do tend ( not all ) to be very ..very personal , and not always at their best when driven in a normal fashion .

I have a WR pack that i use if i have nothing else ... they can get you by i guess ...but depends who's wr it was .. that makes quite a diff ..IMVHO
Well i partially agree, the road car setups tend to feel the same though, so not really an issue, its the big gtr's with messed diff's that i can't use, darkone BF1 sets don't tend to agree with me either, but other than that ive not come across a set i can't drive. You shouldn't be making sets so personal, especially when endurance racing.
Yup i have found the same .. the lower down the pecking order ther car is , the easier i find the WR sets .

Also agree that the gtrs with messed diffs are way out there .. each to their own i guess
