Hi all..

I haven't seen this mod, but nah.. it has absolutely nothing to do with me. Whether the car was taken from one of my brazil scenes or not for simplicity of already being in 3DS, I don't know but this is the first I've heard of this (I don't have the FZR ready for anything other than brazil renders atm).

I have been working on one and continuing to do so, albeit very slowly but sought permission before I had any plans on a public release (wasn't aware of the note in the CMX readme at the time so mailed to make sure).

The FXR at the ring screenshot is VERY VERY early work.. the car's had no smoothing sorted, no driver IIRC, and currently running on stock ISI physics yada yada.. was just to see what the GTR cars looked like for now until I do it properly

My mod's taking a long time as it's a solo project and I want to do things right, not a half-arsed job like so many already available. If anyone is interested, there's here's some screens of some better WIPs:

http://www.modmunkees.org/tmp/screenshots/GRAB_056.jpg
http://www.modmunkees.org/tmp/screenshots/GRAB_060.jpg

Not touched this in a while and it's all early WIP.. but when it is done, full credit will naturally be given to LFS including links and all released skins will have the LFS URL across the top of the windscreen (windows mapped / skinable separately now) as the "primary series sponsor" as such

Why am I doing this? I really like the models Eric has produced and like the openess of rF (I like experimenting) so this brings the best of both worlds to me and also the chance to understand just how much of a PITA and unfun creating car physics is

Regards,

Ian

EDIT: Just seen the screenshot posted above of this other mod... the skin on the car in the spinner is mine though! Not that I knew it had been released.

EDIT2: Sorry about large images initially, I meant to put them in as links
Quote from Tweaker :There is a dS autos skin in that zip somewhere too.

Gotta love respect! I just downloaded the "mod".. all the skins included (although only 2 have been created as usable .DDS files) are mine from dS-Autos.

Unfortunately this behaviour is rife in rF.. but I'll take it as a compliment

Ian

Good to see you finally active on the forums Ian, don't be a stranger now. :alien2:
I'll try not to be

I installed this out of curiousity.. it's far worse than expected, no worries of people flocking to that version of the FZR

Here's a couple of pics on-track.. ummm, not very FZR-like.. and nothing beats a highly polished helmet! and before anyone asks, nah, the headlights aren't on

No idea what they did to the body mapping.. but now I'm more embarrassed than anything to have my skins associated with it especially as they have my company URL on them too.. idiots

Ian
I don't think the devs can do much about it. Its not an official car for rFactor, is it?

Read the Scawen`s post on previous page and look into ZIP file of that mod
Ahh should have guessed! I followed a link to that over200mph forum.. low-n-behold, 'Gisul' is behind this rip.. the same person that has had many threads removed on RSC for the same thing (lost count how many times he posted the GTR 'vette on there that he ripped with PCC physics I think lol).

IIRC, the old domain for this idiot was cfgamez.com (now just default holding page). He's ripped many people's work off and has absolutely no idea what he's doing.

Ian
Hey Ian, nice to see you on this forum. Still going to stay in the dsrc cave or coming to face the masses? Read some great debates, forum getting a bit dull now...
heh will probably flit back and forth now

Initially my login didn't work when LFS moved from RSC and as I'd started to look into other stuff, I never looked into it, but all seems to work now, so I'll more than likely be back

I still read this forum from time to time, albeit mainly the 3D threads.. a _lot_ of progression happening in that dept.. always nice to see new art work

I don't think the law gives two [EDIT] brown smelly things found in toilets[/edit] about wether it's official or not. I don't think they can sue rCraptor, but they can sue the moron who made this.

I seriously think the devs should remove the CMX blanket permission.

LOL why? and how exactly does this affect yourself? What are you losing out on in any of this? Bah @ fanboyism.. how dare anyone share something in <sarcasm>_your_</sarcasm> sim eh? illepall

Knew there was another reason I didn't bother to fix my login here

To be honest, the devs should have stopped anything like this until we can mod LFS. Its a bit unfair people can put LFS cars in other games, but we cant nick the RF cars.
The devs have probably made it easier on themselves this way. It's really not hard to convert a car (doing it properly is another story of course) and all models are free to anyone as part of the CMX viewer, you don't even need to buy the game. Damage limitation IMO as most people will have the respect to ask / release the requested credits etc.

As it happens, there's also 3 LFS models in TrackMania that I know of. A dude contacted me the other week asking if he could convert some of my scenes for that game. I naturally have no problem with that at all.. but did make it clear that they weren't my models to give permission for per-se (as far as my scenes are concerned, people can do what they like with them) and pointed him towards the copyright notice of the CMX viewer that Scawen posted on page 1. He's subsequently given all the credit and a link back to LFS from his release page etc (I haven't downloaded the cars as I don't have the game but would assume credit is there too same as on his site). Not everyone's in the game of ripping others work without permission / giving credit

Why does everything have to be "if I can't, no one else should be able to!"? Nothing to stop you modding at all, you just need a different platform. I wanted to do web hosting and naturally opted for Unix because that's the platform best suited.. but still have a windoze box as a desktop which is far less "modable" than my Unix boxes. No point me screaming at Billy G saying I want to recompile the kernel.

Horses for courses.. but it doesn't have to be mutually exclusive

Link? I got the game, and would love to see that.
http://www.trackmania-carpark. ... age=liste&auteur=1354

is a link to the dude's "garage" as such. Not sure what the difference is between the 2 versions of each car, but never played the game

One of the cars info has specific text from him replying to someone about the conditions of his conversion was that he credited LFS. Babelfish did a rough translation for me anyway

3 cars are the FZR, FXR and RAC.

This car is still unknown in the rFactor community. I tried it on rF, it sucked really bad and I deleted it. Besides I don't think anybody trusts anything this Gisul guy puts out. Everything he does is ripped from someone else. Not to mention everything he does is terrible. Usually his threads are lock at RSC.
OT, but Ian, can I get a link to some of your Brazil scenes? From what I remember, they were very very good.
Thanks!
Nothing else to say, that it is just terrible..Let LFS have their own cars and rF their own their cars. ANyway, play LFS.

<http://ds-autos.digiserv.net/> has all my scenes

I'm currently working on a BF1 scene too that I'll release when it's sorted.. in both Brazil and VRay formats:

Ian

EDIT: Doubly OT.. heh, HTF do I change my flag here? I'm English, not British

EDIT2: I presume the BF1 is covered by the same copyright / conversion / release conditions as the other cars.. but if Scawen or Vic are still browsing this thread for any reason, could you confirm this either way please? I ask due to the deal with real life counterparts etc.. don't want to tread on people's toes
Quote from Ian.H :EDIT: Doubly OT.. heh, HTF do I change my flag here? I'm English, not British

I think you just change your country at www.liveforspeed.net

Quote from Ian.H :EDIT2: I presume the BF1 is covered by the same copyright / release conditions as the other cars..

I don't see any problem when it's used for non-commercial purposes, our copyright notice / release conditions should be fine.
Thanks on both counts Scawen.. Nothing's close to a public release yet but didn't want to end up upsetting Intel or BMW for either myself or LFS
