my girlfreind has a problem with msn atm. im not sure if anyone has come across it before, to me it seems like some kind of virus cos every time she messeges a freind of hers it sends a message like this pic http://facebookz-gallery.com/lookimage........... (dots so people cant see it and try and access it) to all her msn freinds. what it does is trys to download a file that is a number followed by a dash then jpg.exe (222443233-jpg.exe sort of thing) now she says she didnt open it and when i clicked on the link neither did i but it dont seem to be afecting me. this perticualr freind she messages that makes it happen originally sent her the same thing by what it seems. i just wonderd if anyone had seen it or heard of it and knew what it was and what to do ??

It's a virus, and this is how it propagates.

I have gotten other things like these, I usually just ignore them.

lol yes shes come off of msn atm, any idea how to sort it

upload the exe to virustotal to get the virus name and go from there.

ffs use virus scaner...

yes im not ****ing stupid but for some reason i have a sneaking suspicion it wont find anything cos it usually warns when there is something dodgy happening, but she is running a virus scan atm. so my responce to you = ffs use brain first and think why i havent mentioned the obvious

You'd be amazed at how many virus' my GF can get by "not doing anything", and thats with Avast running on the PC...

Yah, girls just click stuff don't they lol.

I saw my other half doing it the other week, nothing serious as the pc was just booting up, but the firewall was popping up with to you wish to allow a couple of things access to the internet, avg updater was one, itunes was another, she just started clicking allow allow allow without even looking at them at all.


I was like, hold on, do you read those, she said no, i just allow them. /facepalm.

She now yells to me, shall i allow this, come and look, whats this, etc.. thank god.

scanned it with avg and it found nothing, gonna try spybot if i can talk her through using it, although i think it may end up in a logmein session lol

AVG free is bad. Try install kaspersky trial, its good for 1 month. Good luck
