High Quality Textures - All Tracks (tarmac+kerb)
**DOWNLOAD FIXED**

As promised following the sucessful trial run of my high quality textures for Fern Bay I have now finished off high quality tarmac and kerbing textures for all of the tracks.

Some users who previously experienced colour banding on the track surface as they drove have reported that it is now reduced or gone completely.

These are some screenshots of Fern Bay with the new textures:

http://www.bansheestudios.com/img/FeG2.jpg
(1280x1024, 16x Anisotropic Filtering, 8xS Anti-Aliasing, All display options maxxed, jpg format, 99% quality.)

I've tested a lot of tracks but not all so please let me know if you spot any ommissions or errors in the patch, but so far i'm not aware of any.

The download is over 41mb in size.

http://www.bansheestudios.com/ftp/lfsTexture.zip
Copy all files into your LFS\data\dds directory.

This will increase your base texture RAM usage from 24mb to around 40mb and on 64mb or less graphics cards may impair framerates, for most users though - those with 64mb/128mb or more of graphics RAM this patch will improve the appearance of the game without impairing performance at all.

You may wish to backup the dds directory first, especially if you have a 64mb card because I am not sure if such cards are sufficient to run the patch on all tracks.

Appreciate the work, they look great

Downloading now.
Hmm, the zip seems to be corrupt. I've downloaded two times now, and I always get an error. Even tried with multiple zip programs
Yup corrupt for me too
eep, ok i'm uploading again, my appologies. It'll take about an hour

yay! yet more hi-res textures!
No offence, but I want to see screenies of all the tracks affected, ideally before and after. However I applaud you for the effort!!!

No offense but that's even more work, i've done enough for your free upgrade opportunity already . how about backing up the dds folder and trying them ?

I'm still uploading the file again at the moment because it keeps failing when I test it. As I type this I think i've just realised why ... I think i'm out of space, the site is actually nearly 200gb in all, and it's got a 200gb hard disk ... hmmm....
yeah someone should do a before and after comparison maybe some side by side pics

honestly i cant see much of a difference just looking at those pics... but it could be because i havent played lfs for almost a day and i'm a bit distracted.

I've been doing this all night, it's now 1am, so I think that somebody should be the person who wants it done .
ok just did a few quick laps

- those turquoise infiels on chicanes at kyote are really oddly coloured
- generally the alphalt is too bright especially on the oval and westhill
- the sprint star finish straight has a weird colour

otherwise a nice mod

Confirmed, I appear to have applied the wrong detail texture to one of the base textures. This will be fixed soon, thank you .

I was testing at Westhill last night and quite enjoyed the brighter colour, so I will see what the general consensus is before making a change.

I've had a look and don't see any errors here, are you referring to the red lane? That doesn't look as good as it could, perhaps I should remake that.
The textures definately make an improvement

If you need any additional mirrors (due to lack of diskspace), feel free to give me a shout Becky.

my bad ... somehow the 2 got lost in that sentence ... i was talking about the so sprint 2 s/f straight which on the left side has a rather odd brownish colour
Looks great, thanks!
nice work Becky thanks

took a quick comparison screenshot, its not perfect, i kinda was further away from the kerb the second time, but you can see the road textures.

(huge 2560x1024 image, 560Kb) kept it normal size to see the changes better.

Thanks Becky there is a lot of work involved obviously, but is it just me or do ALL tracks in sims/games seem to have unrealistically light in colour (road surfaces) like some look almost like concrete, dont know about the rest of the world but tar is black here in oz

B4 you all say "well edit the files etc and make it dark", I'll put my hand up and say I'm not skilled enough and wouldn't know how. I'm grateful for Beckys effort and will continue to use her Textures, however if someone wants to make darker textures for road surfaces, My eyes would thank them

Most roads around here are a shiney grey colour of no particular shade. I guess it depends on how much they're trying to eek out the black dye !

Over in Oz you probably use a darker tarmac because of the temperatures. If you used the stuff we use the cars would melt from the reflected heat !

Hmmn Have they changed the colour of the roads in the 16 years since i toured the UK and drove over 20,000 miles in about twelve months looking at all the awesome old stuff?

I seem to remember it was black mostly? then again your great textures could be the tracks in winter with ice, and salt on the roads that would proly explain why I lose tractiion and spin way too much !
Road America instantly springs to mind for a very non-black track

Ian

But isn't that track mostly concrete?
But yeah, tracks come in all kinds of shades of grey... Or, more accurately, the older the track is, the lighter it will be. I've always seen Westhill as an old track, and it just looks awesome in a lightish color with all the concrete parts on it and all... On the other hand Kyoto is a very modern track, and that looks a lot better in a very darkish color. And Blackwood is somewhere in between... Not Westhill old, but definitely older than Aston and Kyoto, with large parts of it resurfaced, so it would be dark in some parts, and light in others.
Great work Becky thanks.
