Track Temperature
I thought the road surface temperature affected how quickly the tyres on the cars warmed up and all, assuming in fact this is not currently a feature, perhaps it could be good to be able to modify the temperature of the track.

Yes, it would be SO good it was suggested nine thousands times
FYI, the current track and ambient temp is 20C.
What would happen if 20C was changed to -4C without modifying anything else in the code, would the physics take the effect of that temperature.

Just wondering.
I would expect so. The ambient air would sap more heat from the tires, making it harder to keep heat in the tires and necessitating a softer compound.
the thing is, we would all end up using the coldest temps and softest tires for the best possible grip. i have no trouble keeping the tires in the green with R4 tires and road tires. with R2 and R1, i can keep them green for a few laps (8 or so depending on track length) then they start heating up too much.
if i am consistant, they get cooler again (due to having less grip and me being forced to slow down)

+1 for the idea, but in practice, it would be better if the temperature were chosen at random and we had to adjust the tires in the settings menu

There would have to be a server-side 'random temp' the as with the wind conditions we have at the moment.

There are also fun things you could start to implement once we have differeing temps, like ice as it drops below 0 degrees C.
And like snowing instead of raining if it drops below 0... What? Just wondering
Nadeo: Everytime someone suggest snow on racetrack...have you ever seen normal race on snowy racetrack? I like the idea of different track temperature, this could depend on weather conditions we have now - Clear or Cloudy weather. This should be really simple to implement and it would make racing a little more interesting because weather won't mean just graphic difference anymore

I've driven in one. On slicks.

Unfortunately it's just miles and miles of understeer followed by snap oversteer. Still fun though...!

There is a bit more to driving in cold/wet conditions than a whole load of steering lock and a heavy right foot

What a 14,000th post.
I'd be up for this idea, although still being a demo racer until the new year,(I've had to wait for a chance to have a permanent area I can set the wheel up and have reliable broadband to race regularly,) I haven't really experienced everything LFS currently has to offer so the temperature adjustments would just be an extra thing for me to learn rather than a new addition I could enjoy getting to grips with.
