Right when I connect somewhere, it says I have a great connection and that I have no lag. Then out of random nowhere, it says I'm lagging majorly. How come?

Nobody can give you the answer unless you provide us with more details. Saying you're having lag issues but not telling us any important information (like wired or wireless connection, what other applications are using it, do you share it with anyone (family/neighbours)) won't get you anywhere and it's likely to frustrate people who would otherwise have helped you into not giving you any information.

Oh ok. sorry. Well, I run wired that my whole family uses, and my brother next door to us shares it. But when I'm racing, everything will be just fine; then one lap after I just connected, its like I get disconnected. I can no longer see everyone racing, and then I get kicked to spectate since it's like I'm not even racing. On X10, I have this problem, and the host of a lobby I joined said my connection was too powerful. So, what do I do?

Well, can I please get some help? I should ask if someone can help me make my interent connection in LFS less powerful since it's way too overbearing.

The bars going up mean you have connectivity issues. That in no ways means "too powerful".

You dont understand whats going on, neither does the host.

Well I am his brother that plays on a different computer in a different room and I too have had this problem, After about a few laps online our connection just slows way down and everyone is gone with a lag sighn... but at first the connection is great? How do we solve this problem or what is going on?

On the X10 host, IDK how she got to see our ping. Also, I guess she has no idea what she is talking about, and I just assumed that is what it meant. So, I guess it's just my internet connection problem since my parents have a better internet connection.

Is you wired network connecting to the internet through a router with a built in firewall?
Anyone on your network using P2P programs?

Well, I now use Z28, but otherwise I am firewalled. It's just weird how I start out having a great connection, then it just fails. Also, I am not positive if anyone in my house uses person-to-person programs.

Hey people. I have a little problem; I have crappy ping when I play in servers and I do not know how to adjust or fix it. Can anybody help me get better ping and a better connection to servers?

You have neglected to post any information about how you connect to the internet, 14.4K dialup? ADSL? Cable? T1?

Aslo post as much information about the problem as you can, does it happen all the time? on what servers?

do you have other programms running? (like P2P) have you done any ping testing?

whats your hardware specs and what OS are you running?

does this happen in just LFS? or other games /apps?

please give as much detail as you can to help us find, and advise on your problems.

you mention in the other thread, that you, your family and next door share one internet connection, could it be possible that your neighbors are using alot of bandwith?

You could/should ask next door what programs they are using and when (some people leave p2p (pier to pier) programs on 24/7 and p2p really hogs bandwith and most ISP will detect p2p and throttle your line.
P2P are the programs used to download music and films and files from others.

Do some investigating yourself, go to your router and disconnect everyone except the wire to your PC reboot it (router and PC), then test LFS with only your PC on the network.

Check your processes, run AV scans and spyware scans, make sure all your drivers are up to date ect ect.

Ok, my ping problem happens all the time. Whenever I connect somewhere, I only get like 10 minutes at the max of play before the lag comes in. Also, I run DSL with my entire family, and I have no idea if my neighbors use a lot of bandwidth. I also use something called MP3 Rocket, but it is always shut down and never actually connects to the internet without me making it connect. Otherwise, I'll try the disconnecting all the internet connections but mine, but that will have to happen when my parents are not home since they need the internet constantly. Does AVG scan for spyware and other crap, too? Oddly this only does happen for LFS; I also play Halo, and this never happens on Halo. Coincidence?

Some programs like mp3rocket leave processes running even when you close the program, open the task manager (ctrl+ alt+del) and click on the processes tab then look at the list or take a ss and post it here, we might get an idea from the processes and amount of them whats going on.

Hey thanks for helping me! Anyway MP3 rocket is shut down all of the time, but it comes on when I get MP3 Rocket going. One thing I have found out though was if I ran MP3 rocket, then closed the whole thing down (even in the processes), LFS runs just fine. It works like 75% of the time, but is there any other way to fix this issue?

Ok so get this. I removed MP3 rocket, removed LFS X10 and I still have the problem. My dad put this program on my computer called Automotive Expert since he runs an automotive business, but I don't think that's the problem causer. But could that be the problem causer?

Download an application like NetLimiter Monitor. Install it on any machines that have access to your network (as long as you get permission to do so...). NetLimiter will let you see exactly what is using your Internet in real time and you can log usage over periods of time too. That may help you in diagnosing the issue.
