I just did it because you claimed I do this. You and rockclan always go off-topic, and try to insult or be mean to others. And you did it again. Amusing.
Anyway, i've heard this game is basically RACE with rally cars (and dirt circuits, not point to point races) So whats the communities take on it?
Is it worth getting it now, or waiting until its cheap?
Best natural environment I've seen in a racing game thus far. Put together with the very servicable physics I found I could easily immerse myself in the game. The Morocco track is a blast and if representative of the quality of the other tracks then there will be a lot of fun to be had for sure.
I feel I've got the G25 set up well, so tomorrow I'll post my settings if anyone's interested. From memory I adjusted the environmental effects down to 10%, just enough to give a slight roughness in feedback in spots but not enough to give away that the effect is canned (which I believe it is).
Frame rates are very fluid and the game automatically detected correctly the best settings for my computer. Quality all round. I've enjoyed the Colin series off and on for years but this one is a real evolution. A Beautiful game.
I don't think Rally Raid is that bad anyway. The big trucks are actually OK to drive. The only ones I use are the 1993 Pajero and the Bowler Wildcat and they handle pretty well. At least that aren't as bad as the buggies and trophy trucks. *shivers*
There is also 1 bad unlockable car: Dallenbach Special. Yes, it is a good car, but that is the problem; it is too good. It has a huge power and handling advantage over the other Trailblazer cars so everyone who unlocks it will drive it online.
i didnt find that when i went online, i found the Z4M easily beat the dallenbach several times on different courses, it maybe harder to handle but the Z4 is much faster in a straight line
Does DiRT 2 (PC) have the same two cockpit views as in DiRT one, the low FOV and high FOV? Reason I ask is that only the close up view looks really right on my rig.
Also - how good are the physics in this version? DIRT 1 was sh*t physics untill I modded the hell out of it.
Really good, but perhaps the more knowledgeable will be able to find things to pick on. I've been playing the full game a bit and physics wise I'm very happy, everything feels pretty natural as far as I can tell.
In the logitech profiler I've set the wheel to 450 degrees rotation which mimics the onscreen rotation and feels good too.
So far I'd give the game about a 9 out of 10. I do find the menus a little clunky and I'm not really a fan of the heavy American flavour and silly ingame dialogue (although you can turn that off) but none of this really detracts from the racing itself which is extremely rewarding in terms of the visceral nature of spashing through puddles, sliding around corners and burning through small, twisting villages... it's a hell of a lot of fun. The tracks are the big stars here.
PS, I think there's only one cockpit view, but could be wrong.
btw, I took some effort yesterday to do the buggy world tour. I had to do 8 offline races. 3 weren't too bad, since I got to use those T1 trucks, but the world tour was a disaster. I was forced to do it on easy mode. But the reward was epic: the Toyota Stadium truck. Now there is a reason to like trophy trucks.
Sorry to drag up an old thread, but I've been playing DIRT 2 on the PC quite a lot recently. I love the Trailblazing events, especially in the Evo you win from the X-Games, that thing is too fast. I've collected all my best bits from career and lumped them together in a little montage for all you DIRT 2 fans to enjoy...
