Hello there , and welcome

Well , it really depends on what car and track you like most and what one you want to learn first before moving on.

I would recommend the training sessions in LFS , then a little bit of Single Player with about 10 AI cars Just to get into the racing side.

But certainly dont be afraid to make mistakes online too , most drivers are friendly indeed and its v. common indeed for good drivers to make mistakes on laps or even entire races in a server.

Just today , i was on the T7R server ( a well known , high quality racing team ) in a FOX , a car i have never driven before since getting S2 Licensed on saturday , I drove about , came off about 11 times , didnt finish 3 races and only got a 1:07 before calling it quits ( the others were pulling 1:01s every other lap ).

So , you may in fact find others who are also learning ! There really is no specific server i can think of , just use sense , and if there is a BF1 Grand Prix with 63 laps and 24 cars driving in it , then that really isnt the time to take out that UF100 that you have never driven before

Thanks and good luck

sometimes it's too obvious... "practice only server" for instance...
sometimes you just can't see the woods, cause it's all full of trees..

FE3?

I actually warn you, because there is atleast 1 driver at server, who doesn't want to have fun but win win win!

So he'll start blaming at you, that he was only a half laps behind, why did you ignore blue flag etc. etc.

I recommend you to join not very popular (less drivers) server. Andre's (the monkey, you know) for example.

Ignore all the elitist CRAP that is being written by people who should know better at the moment. You've paid for this game and you therefore have the right to play on ANY public server. If you make a mistake and cause an accident then apologise, it's very rare that anyone will bear a grudge against you. If you find yourself seriously out of your depth the maybe you might consider playing somewhere else but that's up to you not somebody else.

Bottom line is just go and play and have fun.... The day the new racers feel they can't play online unless they were born with the ability to set the car up perfectly and race at the same speed as the top drivers is the day there are no more new drivers. The day after that is the day that LFS starts to fade away.

Smax said it all ...

If there is really important " win win win " games going on , then the server gets or should be in the first place , passworded.

Two qoutes above mean pretty much the same thing , so no worries.

Just a bit of clarification about this statement. The Live for Speed developers do not own the servers, they only own the server that lists the races. The individual public and private servers are owned by folks in the community / teams, so in actuality, it is under their discression whether or not you have the right to play on them. Many are rented gaming servers and some are folks personal home computers running the race servers.

The only RIGHT you have by paying for the game is to play with the S2 content. By playing fair and being conciderate, the owners of the actual servers allow you to play on them.

I just wanted to clarify that as many new folks may think that the servers come from LFS. They are owned by individuals here in the community and not LFS.

That said, my opinion is to head out on the servers even as a new guy. As long as you don't disrupt the racing and be conciderate to others, you're fine. And you can learn quicker by following what others are doing (unless they are doing something stupid of course). Some may and will give you some help along the way. The statement above about "Elitist" unfortunately is true though. It would be best to join a smaller race while you learn.

I'd only add that my definition of a public server is any server running without a password, regardless of who owns it. I realise that is a different definition, than is the case with many other games, but since for LFS there are not "official" servers, and anything not password protected is advertising itself as a place to play:- thus it is public.

However the development team are not those who I was referring to as "elitist"

I'd agree that you have the right to play with the S2 content, and would add that you have the right to at least connect to any public server. Whether or not you are granted the right to remain there by whoever administrates it is up to whether or not you can behave reasonably and play fairly.
I only became S2 active on Sunday. At the moment I try and hop into an empty server...normally someone will join with no expectations of serious racing (due to lack of numbers in the server). I will then try and keep up with them to improve my racing...hints, tips and setups are also normally forthcoming.
i wanna thx you al fore the replys and am happy to say that i found a nice server tp pratice on the peeps who run the server even started to help me out so my love fore the game even became bigger thx to the [vmr]
