My Blog, about car things.
yes... how absolutely useless of me... I started a blog about me and some other people that like cars... rather alot. Its only just finding its legs at the moment, but by xmas I will hopefully have blogged about some of you guys and your cars and vlogged some of the... 'fixing' of my own car, anyhoo, if you want to have a quick flick through some motoring dribble, please do take a read...

enjoy,

Oscar.
Improving your grammar would make things easier to read. Too many commas all over the place put pauses where there shouldn't be any. Some focus would help too, tackle one topic at a time, think about it and try and write something interesting.
Your page currently features the word 'now' followed by a comma in seven places. In most of those cases it's not actually contributing anything.

Maybe proof read your stuff before publishing.

Edit: Sorry if this sounded harsh it was a rushed reply, no harshness intended.
Quote from JPeace :i knew this wouldn't be good..

its not "anyhoo", its "anywho" just jumping on the bandwagon here

If you want to be picky, it's anyhow.

Now, where did I put those commas?

I think you'll get fairer comments when there is some content to comment on.
thanks for all the replys people, My grammar leaves alot to be desired I know. But, anyhoo? that is not a word and I dont want it to be one. Its southern slang and that IS how it is spelt here. Thanks for reading, I think that later posts and a vlog on restoring my car should be more focused.

thanks,

Oscar.
Dare I do this for fear of being flamed into next week. Yes. Here is A LITTLE more content with considerably less mistakes and commas. It is all proof read, albeit badly because it's me.

Anyhoo. http://myloveofcars.blogspot.com/

enjoy, or not in most cases.

Oscar.
Some very harsh critics on here. Well done for not giving up on it with all the negative feedback. I am reading it with great interest as I am refurbishing a classic myself. There are still quite a few spelling and punctuation errors in there by the way, but I won't judge you on that.

Keep us updated anyway mate.
Are you sure Anyhoo is southern slang? I've always said "Anyhow"

Still, a fairly good read. And as Gills said, keep us updated

If you're going to publish yourself without checking your spelling and grammar then you should expect negative feedback, surely?

Quote from brandons48 :Are you sure Anyhoo is southern slang? I've always said "Anyhow"

The former is a derivative of the latter, both are American variations of 'anyway'.

Of course, I never said that you wouldn't, and as I said, there are still quite a few mistakes in there even after proof-reading. However, that doesn't mean that people should be totally disrespectful with their critisisms. The reason why I think it comes across harsh is that the only thing that is picked out from the blog is spelling and punctuation. No interest or feedback is on the actual topic that he is blogging about. The lad is a youngster as far as I can tell, and is just trying to share his experiences with others. I think it's nice that he has taken the time to do this and share it with us. No one is forcing you to read it afterall. Sorry if I have the wrong end of the stick, my comments were not meant to be specifically aimed at you, Kev.

Fair enough. Personally I'm not interested in cars, can't say why nobody else is interested in his blog except for the fact that it's been quite poorly written so far.

Regardless of what you're writing about, good writing is good writing. It has to engage the audience and tell a story or it falls flat. Without wanting to sound overly critical I think the OP needs to concentrate more on structure, as well as eliminating simple mistakes. I don't know anything about engines but I know what a 'solenoid' is, and I wouldn't simply guess at how to spell it if I'd never seen it written before.

If the writing was better I'd probably enjoy reading it, despite not having any particular interest in the content it could still be a good story.

Quote from Gills4life :Sorry if I have the wrong end of the stick, my comments were not meant to be specifically aimed at you, Kev.

I didn't think it was.
Well thanks guys... I have still made mistakes on my latest post, that was my largest fail, cellanoid... thats not a real thing, I meant solenoid. It prounounced the same as I spelt it before... hense my own confusion. Kev 100% has me there, that was dumb and unorganized of me. However... Kev, you said, 'Personally I'm not interested in cars' Then, please do critique my grammar, but dont critique the content if you are not interested anyway.

Anyway... I will continue with it if people are taking some general interest,

thanks all (even kev),

Oscar.
Oscar: Writing is a skill like any other and you'll improve with practice. Keep at it, but don't be lazy about editing - if you don't correct those simple errors your audience will think you don't care about the quality of your blog, so they won't care about it either.

That's all I was trying to say.
Quote from thisnameistaken :I didn't think it was.

My bad and you make a fair point.

"Cellanoid", that did make me weep just a little bit. I got to know quite a lot about them since I had problems with mine, and I accidently forgot to disconnect the battery when unscrewing one of the knuts on it to take it off off the car. Quite a shocking mistake to make. :hide:
I know, and we all take criticism differently, I may react with sarcasm but I really do value everyones advice and opinions, so keep it coming and keep it on topic

thanks,

Oscar.
