Dead 8800 GTS 640Mb - cheap replacement?
My graphics card died on new years' eve (great time to die, card. Thanks) so I need to replace it. I want to replace it reasonably like-for-like in terms of performance, I don't want to upgrade or downgrade either, I want whatever goes as fast as my old card at whatever price that is.

I'm assuming it will be cheap, given that my dead card is three years old.

Any ideas? I'm leaning towards a cheap model HD 4870 512Mb for about £95 at the moment but that's kind-of an upgrade, I'm wondering if there's a cheaper option.

I definitely don't care about whatever is the best bang:buck card right now or anything like that - this computer will be 3 years old in April and ripe for replacement, at which point I'm not sure I'll even bother building another PC that can play games.

8800GT will be the same level of performance, ATi 4830 is slightly slower than the 8800GT so about the same sort of performance.
Cheers mate.
I have a 9800GT 1gb up for grabs, good working order. Never had any probs with it. £60 & its yours.
Sorry Ant I got a HD 4850 in the post yesterday (£70 so not bad, couldn't find anywhere with 4830s in stock), back up and running now.

Thanks for the offer though.
