im thinking of an upgrade but unsure of the quality of these low priced acers.
anyone got one?

I'm using a 21.5 Acer. It's cheap but it works. No dead pixels and no problems with connections or anything. For a budget monitor it's fine.

Yep cheapie acers here aswell 3x 19" Well i thought id get triple screens for the price of one decent 24" so went for it.

I've got an Acer P243w (24"). It's fine for desktop usage, but I'm experiencing some tearing when watching video and playing LFS - Especially when the camera is panning. It's nothing I can't live with though! The same goes for the one faulty pixel which is constantly bright green.

Stuck pixel. Have you tried: http://www.jscreenfix.com/basic.php You should definitely try that, it can not cause damage.
