Best way to ship out an old CPU...
... when you dont have any original packaging.
I have an old AMD 3200+ that I have to send out, but I hdont have the packaging for it, so what to do.

Could I use a piece of sponge, place cpu on it, and place everything in a small jewelry box, then place all that in an antistatic bag+buble wrap+a bigger box?

Thanks in advance.
sounds ok.
id make it along these lines.
just dont put anything in which can be statically charged.

Try something that wont touch the pins of it. When i bought my aftermarket cooler for cpu, it had a nice cpu sized plastic thing on it wich could be used also with the cpu itself, to protect it. Not sure actually, something that is strong and wont touch the cpu pins much.

Sounds about right, got an OEM CPU from ebuyer the other day, just came in a box with the CPU on a sponge pad inside an anti static bag all inside a little carboard box.
could I use any kind of sponge? Dont have any real sponge pads, so I thought of cutting out some sponge and using that. Probably stupid but better ask before I do that.
Buy some of these washing-up sponges:

cut off the green part then cut the sponge cut it in half, and put your chip in the middle.
