Internet slower after buying a Router
I've been using an ordinary USB ADSL modem for a couple of years, but i switched to Router so i don't have to turn my PC on to be able to play online on PS3..
The model is Planet ADE-4400, the ISP gave me that, although i requested a TP Link 8840..

Anyway, i'm getting like 75, 80, or even 50 kbps (1mbit connection) when downloading something. Everything is like twice the slower then it was with the modem.
Anyone knows what's the deal, isp's customer support is awefull, their like robots, they have no idea what they're talking about..
Either your router is wrongly configured or for some reason it is not compatible with your line, or it could just be the fact that that router is junk.
If you connect your computer directly to the modem, is the speed faster?

Sadly i don't have the modem anymore, freakin ISP asked to return the modem so they can charge me for a Router (altough they should give it to me for free).
As i said it worked great with the modem, but with the router is like 30, 40% slower.. One guy on the other forum suggested that maybe i have some malware that sucks my bandwith, which is possible cause my HDD lamp is turned on non-stop lately.. What is a good program to scan for malwares?
Try checking your network load with ctrl+alt+del

I'm not home curently, but what exactly should i look there?

If you suspect some malware sucking your bandwith.
I believe it must show up the network load (I dont know the exact name in english, my windows is PT).
Don't surf the web or download anything and check the % of load while doing "nothing". Am I clear?

Yes To check if the network scale goes up while i'm doing nothing, thanks

Sorry for not english post. Maybe I can help him on our language better then on english.

Da, klasican eternet kabl.. ma samo sam ugasio ruter pa upalio ponovo i brzina je ok, oko 105, 110kb

English:

I just turned off the router and turned it on and the speed is ok now...
Da... To uvijek upali... ON/OFF i radi... LoL Il udri šakom pa dok ne proradi.

English:
It always works... ON/OFF and it works... LoL Or hiting it until it work.

LOL that always do it, until it breaks in 2 pieces glad to hear its full speed now

Thanks... but that HDD lamp is still worrying me, it's on, nonstop... it's either some malware, or it's something wrong with the HDD, anyone knows what might cause that?
What kind of "HDD lamp"? I never heard Hard Drives have lamps.

You need to hit it careful... LoL Like this:

Red lamp on the PC case? That blinks when HDD is in use?
Oh... LoL Yeah... If it's on all the time, just find the right wire and turn it off. LoL
Maybe your HDD is lower then 7200 RPM? Doing something what makes lots of preassure on CPU and HDD? Doing few thing at the same time? Background processes?
It seems that the lamp is 'stuck' on the red, it's on all the time, that can't be, i don't hear the hard disk working at all..
I don't hear mine even if it's under full stress. You can't hear HDD. You can only hear CPU or some of the fans.

I can show you some older HDD's which sound like a coffee grinder when in use and that's when they are in good condition...

To OP: I would try to reset the Winsock settings, it may help: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html

Edit: didn't see it works now, but anyway this program can come in handy later
