Went to see The Road on wednesday. Good film. It's not an action film so steer clear if that's what you're looking for. If however you want to see a reasonable film about the relationship between a boy and his father and about humanity in general it's worth a watch. There are a few quite gruesome scenes in it though. Not so much in a gore sense like of SAW etc more to do with human depravity.
Never understood why film makers ever consider the certification. Given it was a 15 in the UK it could have probably got away with such scenes and still got an 18.
On that topic, anyone else notice just how few certificate 18 films there are these days?
Probably because most films that would have been 18's in the past are being given 15 certificates these days. Not sure if that's a trend I agree with.
So my ex finally convinced me to go see it with her. She said it was in 3D, so I thought I will give it a go... and if I dont like it, I can snooze through it.
Anyways, one word to say; Impressed.
I actually loved it. It was simply brilliant. I'll be honest, when I first read about it back in November, I said to myself I will never ever will go to see it. But boy was I glad I did.
Really is an amazing movie. And the screens are still buying out. Even after more than a month after its release it still packed full. I was really surprised about that.
Anyways, great watch. And the chick is quite "hot" as well.
It's a matter of money... You'd be alienating half the cinema-going demographic (made up as I go along - maybe not that much, but still a considerable part) if it were 18, so cuts are made to lower the rating...
Just watched it (at home btw).. I don't why, but i constantly fought with myself not to fall asleep while watching it This is raaarely happening to me.. I don't know what's the deal, is it the constant whispering in the film or something...
District 9. I would've wondered how they did all of the 3D rendering. The texturing for the aliens are so incredibly grungy and it's a thrill to see people who aren't exactly famous to star in this. It somehow flows very well.
Just finished watching Night On Earth. Another simply made film with a simple premise. The Italian taxi driver has also become one of my favourite film characters ever (especially after learning the actor ad-libbed much of his dialogue according to IMDB).
