Kinda hard to wait patiently when the devs tell you something will be released by the end of the week, then they say in a few months, now it's one and half f*cking years later, and no update at all. People like you are the reason these threads get closed, you come in here and do the usual "Stop complaining about the new patch, I'm gonna kiss the dev's asses by supporting their way too damn long development rate, and not agreeing with everyone that's pissed off about it." Lay off already, and gtfo.
I have to agree with you that the speed of development is far to slow and people are leaving,
Mid way through last year after having 8 open servers for several years, (i pay for them up front for the year) i emailed the devs desperately asking that they did something to help keep interest and to add more content to save our leagues, at the same time asking if i was just wasting my time with servers.
I didnt even get an answer.
I spend much more each year on servers (and others do also) than any of us ever paid for LFS and lets be fair its the servers that allow us to race.
So ConeDodgers now only have 4 servers and we race on Thursday nights using one track (Changes every week) and 3 or 4 sets of cars. Its great fun but we are getting about 8 people, its hopeless.
When i joined LFS it was the best there was but its hardly changed, most of the updates are minor items that online racers dont use or care about.
Our teem have tried GTR Evo and the excitement was over in 2 weeks.
We have 2 servers on nKPro which is a fantastic sim to drive but very few racers around and it has a long way to go.
So we will just have to wait for LFS to be updated and watch the forum fill up with these posts every week.
The devs should be aware that they have a fantastic following that they could lose it for lack of telling us what is going on.
I have said it hundreds of times, regular new content is the only way to keep it fresh.
pearcy with all due respect can you please tell me how Scawen can give us a date if he doesn't know himself when the patch will be finished? If you engage your brain surely you can see how specifying a date is counter productive. As the date approaches Scawen is under more pressure to then finish the patch, he may then start rushing to meet the deadline and then the Beta testers may find some serious bug which requires alot more coding etc etc. Even big game developers cannot get most products released on time.
Scawen gave us a date in 2008 and look where that got him. Do you think he's just sat at home doing an hour a day? Do you think he's got to this current situation by doing that? I just don't understand what you want him to do? If you have any experience of programming you will realise that Scawen can't just magically produce a patch. He gave us some info in December and that is where we are at, simple as. You make it sound as though Scawen is deliberately delaying the patch, and surely even you can see that can't possibly be true.
I'm not happy or unhappy about waiting for the patch, I just carry on as normal. Reacting like you are does absolutely nothing to change the situation, but if its made you happy then you must be living a very sheltered life.
The lack of progress is definitely bad for the game, but should not make any old users start threads like this. We 'buy' the game as is. There's no monthly fee or continuous donations. I bought S2 for what the game had to offer me at that point, not for what it was promising for the next months. Sure, I'll obviously enjoy new additions when they're released, but I think any complaint re: the devs job would only be fair and justified had the game gone backwards in its development, which did not happen to LFS.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I fail to see any sense in creating another hate thread where the opinion of one individual is passed on as the collective say on that matter.
Completely agree.
Don't see why it needs to be done, but see what you're talking about.
However, I don't agree with this either. LFS is produced by a small independent team of developers. If LFS does indeed 'steal' users from iRacing, great, but no one should consider LFS and iRacing as rivals. Whilst it's perfectly possible for one person to play both games, iRacing is on a different league - there's much more money going on, much more pressure from the users and, if something goes wrong, much more at stake. It's nice to s ee that the iRacing community acknowledges the existance of LFS, but I don't believe we should expect LFS to 'up their game' in order to beat iRacing. The game's future doesn't depend on that.
People come and go, and that's the key principle in LFS' marketing model. I don't think the game will die just yet, although it does seem to me that the number of users worthy talking to (in the forums case)/racing with (in the proper game case) grows in a much smaller rate in comparision to the twats.
Do not believe in that. Unless the game grows so big that iRacing decides to buy it. You wouldn't like that, would you?
Btw, if i think a bit - im starting to realize that there is no feedback on this too. Like, i remember when i was struggeling to get my S2 licence, had few nice patches and stuff. Right now it feels a bit like dead end.
Hmm, Would be nice for the devs to get there finger out and actually report to us on what's happening.
But tbh, i hardly play LFS. It's just knowing its going to come out and we don't know when.
Ahh Just wait, There taking long enough, So i wouldn't expect anything small. All I'm thinking is GTR Scirroco.
I imagine its like anything else, you can run into complications with anything. But i don't think having no target date is productive. They should have a date for themselves to go for, update us regularly and tell us where they're at. I'd like to know if it's going to be days, weeks, months, years, decades. Atleast then we will know if its worth sticking around.
As I should get my lazy ass a lot more online LFS still offers a lot of "new" content for me. FBM, BF1, LX6, RAC, FZR... all cars which I have to discover more into detail. AS North, SO4, FE Black... combo's which I barely have driven. And then we're not even talking about having some rally fun!
Nevertheless, some more cars, which are different (not yet another formula class which online isn't being used), and new tracks (not different layouts of tracks although some variation in those are fun but it gives not much variation) are welcomed.
BUT... most of all:
Realistic damage model.
Wet weather racing.
Fixing rally racing.
More realism in drafting, braking, tyre wear.
We play LFS cause it is a great racingsim. With all do respect: quit the ****ing interior updates and get working on what counts: the gameplay and racing simulation aspects.
I agree with what you say - I worded mine slightly wrong. I meant a "battle" as in almost a "realism" battle - which is more realistic. Of course iRacing is going to have all the licensed cars and tracks and things like that, although I would say LFS is a more "pure" sim - it's been done for fun rather than money.
Even though i was against iRs pricing strategy,i saw that im willing to pay in order to be heard and have constant development-progress.
Now days for me LFS is a nice alternative, not my primary selected sim to race.Ive surelly enjoyed racing here but its getting boring.
I do understand-respect the devs point of view and slow progress pace (if you consider the every 3 month patches of the paying competitor),but that dont mean that i have to accept it,thats why i chose iR.
Ah, yes, then I agree as well. I quite like that healthy battle for the top when it comes to how much realism can by input in a game, but that won't necessarily cause LFS to shut down should it 'lose' the war. As you have well put, LFS's done for fun, so it will only cease to exist when the fun is over. With all its problems, BL1 and XFG is more than enough for me to have some fun racing, so I think LFS' safe regarding its survival.
Of course I'd appreciate if the game kept on being developed at a steady rate, but if I ever get frustrated with the game, I'll be the only responsible for it, for I was the one putting high expectations on a product that never promised me more than what it was capable of delivering when I purchased S2. If I get tired of LFS, and at some point I most probably will, I'll just move on and find something else to amuse me during the times of the day where I should be having some social life. I'll be sad for leaving but won't attempt to take anyone with me simply because I can't realize that by doing 'nothing', the devs haven't actually done anything wrong either.
Well you better get used to me because I'm not going anywhere in a hurry.
Why don't you just leave? You can't expeact to walk into an LFS community whinging and get a positive response, for the same reasons you wouldn't walk into a bar in Compton and shout "**** you, ******s!".
Or you could join us on the track, I've had several hours of good racing tonight and you've missed out on it all.
