Quote from lukelfs :Im running SLI 8800GT's, but in a system with those specs its not worth doing it? surely?

You would proberly be better of with a single GTX260 or anything of the above from that?

a single GTX260 is about £160.
another 8800GT is about £100 (top end)

the performance of the SLi'd 8800GT's out perform the 260 by i would say 30%

I completely agree. The 260, while it is a much newer card, is a mid-range card. The 8800 was a high-end card. The 8800 would still be more powerful than the 260, and 2 of them in SLI would be even faster.

Yesterdays high-end cards is today's low-end cards. Or something.

ive just put a bid for £301.50 on a GTX295 on ebay lol.. and im winning it, but it does have a number of days left. lol
The 8800GT doesnt need to be the same brand, any 8800GT 512mb will do

Yes they are faster in SLI than one GTX260 but if you had those in SLI in the future it would be much better
