Shifting
Hello All!!

I seem to have a problem... I like to drive in car but i find that i can't see what gear i am in while turning (due to the spoke sof the wheel) and have to shift randomly to get it into the right gear. At the moment im using a keyboard but will be getting a wheel soon, I'm bad enough at the game with the key board as it is and dont want to drive manual untill i get a wheel. Is there some sort of gear indicator i can have visable at all times so i no longer am coming out of a turn in neutral. I just dont know what it is about LFS but the automatic isnt that great in down shifting. Any help would be great thanks
In the options I notice you can choose not to have the wheel on the screen. Once you have your new wheel, why not turn off the one on the screen? Then you can see the dashboard. You won't need the visual feedback from the wheel on screen as you'll have one in front of you.
that is a great point...although i love seeing the steering wheel :P thank you for your quick reply
Or, I just noticed, you could change the clocks to virtual. I think aesthetically I prefer the first option.

OK, back to the F1 on the telly now... :heyjoe67_

The visual wheel on screen is helpful as you can tell if your wheel lock settings and calibration matches the car.

kev it can be kinda easy to lose track in the BF1, though

Listen to the engine also. Count the gears in your head as you shift.
I try that but sometimes I'm too busy trying to stay on the track...
Know your set, and listen to the engine, you should be able to tell when to shift.
