People who are planning to tell me that i should get a V6 supra - just go back and find urself another thread. Im looking for a first car that would bring me from point A to point B.

No such thing as a V6 Supra.
Ok i don't want to take over this thread but i just got my drivers license and now i am searching for a pre 1987 BMW E30, and i would like to know if you guys could recommend me one (engine wise and other important stuff).
Hazaky - Have you ever thought of getting a Nissan Almera GTI? My dad has an Almera at the moment and he loves it.

Just throwing it out there, it's a nice little car.
Why don't you buy something French?
Citroën, Peugeot, Renault...
Those are all good cars.
Ask people here... http://www.streetrace.org/foorum/

The guys here (no offense) don't know the situation in Estonian car markets, so even though their suggestions might be good in theory, the cars they suggest might not fit your budget or they could be extremely rare over here.
The problem with these kinds of threads are that every car maker will have it's horror stories and equally people who have never had a problem at all. So saying buy French (bahahha, sorry) or saying buy Toyota or Nissan (GTI first car, again, bahahahha) or Ford cause I've never had a problem, really doesn't mean much.

You need a cheap car so search for you price range, not a particular make or model, see what you can get then check out the website clubs that are around for that car and look for the common problems.

When I was looking for my first car, I searched for the money I could spend (about £500) then settled on a few makes/models I liked and went to see loads of them.

Just do the basic checks: HPI, check oil, water, tyre wear, check for leaks, if the engine bay has been cleaned it could be to hide something so double check things like that. Listen for knocking or tapping noises on a test drive, try and do some full lock turns and listen for noises (drive shafts) see if it tracks in a straight line, not pulling to one side. Check the height or the brakes, hand brake lever and clutch pedals for signs of wear/life left. Try and get long tax and MOT's cause that's an expense to try and avoid just in case it goes tits up.

There are more so if anyone has them....
Quote from Klutch :No such thing as a V6 Supra.

It was just a example, the reason why i did it is that some people kept telling me to get a serious drift car that costs a fortune.

Edit: ... And that diesel FWD cars suck bigtime.

Yea, ill try this way. Ive been watching few "tip" videos on youtube by Davidsfarm where he explains some of the basics that u should check out when buyng a car.
Bump dat shiznitz!
The best tip when going to look for a car is to take someone who knows what he's doing with you.

You could put down a list of cars that are in your price range in Estonia so people here could suggest viable options.

I looked through the ads and for about 600 to 1000 Euros the list is like this...
http://www.auto24.ee/kasutatud ... =0&ag=1&otsi=otsi
Basically the most common cars are early 90s Audis (80, 100) and BMWs; mid 90's Escorts, Mondeos and Scorpios (but they're butt ugly); Sierras; early and mid 90s Civics; some older Kias and Hyundais; Mazda 323 and 626; late 80's, early 90's Mercedes-Benz; older Mitsubishi Colts, Lancers and Galants; mid 90's Nissan Primeras, Almeras and Sunnys; mid 90s Opel Astras, Vectras, Omegas; mid 90's 306s; Ladas ; Golf mk 2 and 3; early 90's Passat; early 90's Volvos. There are other cars but they're more rare and thus should be more expensive but if it's rare and cheap then it's most likely a heap of junk.

Good luck.
Myea, Audi's, BMW's and Mercedes-Benz are the ones i hate the most. These would be my last decision. But, some Fords and cheapies are pretty good. Well see, ill send few messages to some people in there and ask for details about the cars. Some people dont have mileage written in there.
True. BMWs are good cars but they have such a stigma on them so in order to own one you really really have to want one to get over the fact that everyone will think you're a massive cock (except cocks who will think you're cool).

Thats right, and i was thinking im the only one who thinks this way

I would like to go with somekind of vw maybe? A cheap Vento would do the job i guess. One thing is that diesels seem to be more pricey. Maybe u could get a gasoline fuel engine? Dont know, i wont drive alot. Just short distances, a bit of travelling and some other stuff.
Quote from hazaky :Yea, i like Peugeot 206. But i might need to raise my budget first. Well see.

Why don't you go for Citroen C3 or C2? They are cheaper... Or maybe Saxo? Or if you want something really old you can go for AX or ZX.
Quote from matijapkc :Why don't you go for Citroen C3 or C2? They are cheaper...

There's some great little cars like these out there, but the model has only been out a few years so 2nd hand ones are still pretty expensive.

But Saxo, ZX and AX are older... From 90's and even from 80's.
That's why I deleted those parts from the quote

But I think you can find C3's and C2's cheap if they're used... They aren't expensive in Croatia. Not even new ones...
For example: My dad bought C4 (middle equipment package, basic engine) and payed it 150k HRK (~30k$) and new C3 costs around 60-70k HRK (~12-14k$).
Im not sure how old C3's and those look but i have to say that i have my standards ... In another words, it has to look like a car. Not a space ship or anything like that. Sayng because the newer citroen C3's and those look fugly as hell.

Gonna this agian, should i get a gasoline powered car?

Edit: Now i found this, looks good to me. I sent message to the guy tho. http://eng.auto24.ee/kasutatud/auto.php?id=697567
Quote from hazaky :onna this agian, should i get a gasoline powered car?

Depends on what you want.
Gasoline - more power. better sound, bigger gas consumption. (I hope spelling is ok.)
Diesel - terrible sound, less fuel consumption, less power and less CO2 goes in the air.
Ow, mistaked the first part of it a bit. Meant "gonna ask this again".

Anyways, hmm. I personally like gasoline's tho but the only problem is the fuel. I mean, they take pretty much of it.
Unless you are driving mega miles then it won't make a huge difference.

I went to Bruges at the weekend, did 700 miles, and my car returned 10.6 litres to 100 miles, which works out at 42.9mpg, diesel in the UK is £1.15 a litre, so that journey cost £85.33.

In a petrol car the same journey would be £104.4 (based on an assumption of 35mpg), so even on a long journey its not too much, the savings become even less on a short journey.

Diesel : 12.19p per mile
Petrol : 14.91p per mile

Plus newer diesels are a bitch if they go wrong (and they do, alot)
Myea hmm, im considering gasoline engines for now. In comparison, it seems that the lower end cars, gasoline seems to be cheaper and has more cars. Well see, that ford escort i linked few posts ago looks pretty nice. Waiting for hes response and then well see, i need to get a job soon tho lol.
Dude just get a BMW e30.

Thats what i will be doing, i will probably get a 325e or a 320i.
Do some people just read the thread title and then reply?

His budget is 1000 euros. There's no way you could get a C2 or C3 for that money unless it was crashed into a tree. Saxos, ZXs and AXs are pretty rare so you're going to have a hard time finding one. And he said he doesn't like BMWs.
