Okays, so I have a broken phone and want to repair it on the cheap

Basically I have a V550 (Motorola) with a white screen after it took a flight down the stairs, it powers up, everythig works except the screen. Is there a way I can repair it myself or spend as little time as possible for somebody else to repair the phone?

Slider phone? The front panel and rear? check the bending cable or hows its called.

A lot of times you are going to need a torx set to unscrew those star-slot screws. I replaced the outer screen on my dad's E90 (swapped screens) with just a torx screwdriver - it just came right out and unplugged. Your phone is probably more complicated though, lol.

If the other phone is unlocked or the same network as your sim, yes.

EDIT: Bah. I find a V550 for 10 euro cheaper than what I paid >< (20 vs 30)

moto had a lot of problems with their earlier flip phones. even the 1st-gen razr's have that white screen problem. it has something to do with the hinge, there is a switch that is operated by a magnet that tells the phone if it's flipped open or not. taking it apart (if you can get it open) might fix it, but since the phone is old, i'd just scrap it and get something new.

i'd send you my unlocked (but not unbranded) 1st-gen razr v3, but international shipping is a PITA.

I ordered a phone or two off of eBay AND get this one repaired for free

EDIT: V550 quad band yes? If so that explains why other phones won't work
