You use the ingame feature.

Basically just press SHIFT + U when driving around on the Autocross lot (or any track area), and you can start placing objects.

Usually when you hit Shift U, you need to hit spacebar if a menu doesn't come up. Also the "Place Objects" option needs to be turned on. Then you can choose some objects and hit "O" (not zero) to place each object one by one

We really do need an external program. I start making layouts and get bored after a minute or two. Feel sorry for the people that make 500+ object layouts!

You've done nothing wrong (except not getting the S2 licence ). You cant make layouts in the demo.

it would be bit easier with pointer and hand tool (i.e. +ctrl) to move map or select many objects.
