Car-to-Pit Communication
Why not be able to communicate with your pit crew? There are times during a race where I'd really like to receive info about my car, the race, as well as information about what is happenening out on the track. I also think it would be nice to be able to tell your crew what you would like done during you next pit stop.
cause we have no pitcrew lol

also, they would all be prerecordings (obviously) but.. i mean, thats why we have .. flags lol
No pit crew? Who puts in the fuel, changes the tires, etc? They might not be visible (yet), but they are definitely there.

Obviously they would be pre-recordings...illepall

Flags are not enough, which is why radio communication has been implemented (among other things).
lol we dont really have a pictcrew like i said, who puts on the stuff.. well.. unless you haven't noticed, i havent seen anyone that can fix a whole car in less than a second (but then just seem to wait around and then eventually fill the gas tank up)

but .. what would these recordings say though is whats confusing me i guess

The idea came up earlier as a side-note to a different topic and was generally very much appreciated. The system proposed worked by assigning keypresses to specific information. For example, you press a key and it tells you your position and the remaining laps, or informs you about damage to the suspension, or tells you that you just drove a new personal best and that you're 1.6 seconds ahead of the next driver. This would allow us to completely get rid of the HUD without loosing vital information.
This is all possible from applications outside of LFS. So actually the devs don't have to bother with it, if someone (Hello Kegetys! ) did an application like that.

that is a point, it's like when the car is in the pits if there were pit crew there would be one person doing all the work lol, right front tire, then left front tire, etc.

also, how would that person remove the huge dent in the car???

On a side note: Removing a dent can be done faster than you think.
Every pit area has tools to pull the chassis back into a position where it can stay until the end of the race. We had to do that once to a car that had some contact on the racetrack and had parts of the chassis bent dangerously close to one of tyre. It took some 10-15 seconds and the metal was bent away enough to send the car back on the track. But no, the result doesn't look pretty.

i think its a good idea, bit more realism to the game
might even save us some FPS if we get rid of the other stuff

but im worried it would.. sound strange or not understandable. like, have you ever played those games where they say something over radio and you have absolutely no idea what the hell they just said lol.. thats not good
have LH Michael or Microsoft Sam read out the data required, that way it doesnt really have to be pre-recorded, or it might, i dont know

also - it would be bad for other languaged LFS players who cant speak fluent english
this post has just given me an idea, nothing to do with the topic but it could be fun, i'll try an experiment and report
We have Taconf,
