Hi guys, having problems with a new graphics card.
I recently bought an ATI HD5770 and after replacing my old card with it and installing drivers, it would simply freeze. Sometimes it displays triangles of different sizes and colours, i dont know what is causing it...
Spec;
Intel E8400 processor
ATI HD4650 (old) / HD5770 (new)
4gb DDR2 800 ram
650 Watt power supply

any ideas?

Hmm, it's possible i got an idea.
But can you send me the name (exactly) of your mother-board ?

And it's freezing at the loading of windows ? When it's freezing exactly ?

motherboard - Gigabyte ga-73pvm-s2h
It freezes about 20sec-2min after startup

right, slight change, doesnt freeze at start now, but playing lfs, vertical black lines appear?

Have you deleted the old graphics drivers? It should be something GPU related.

lol. what gives you that idea?
when you took out your old card, did you uninstall all the relevent software/drivers connected with the card?
then did you reboot? then did you install the new card?
then did you install all the manufacturers software/ monitoring utillities?
then did you install ATI's newest gpu driver?

also, did you check your event viewer to see what is causing the freezing?
have you run and diagnotsic software?
is there a heatsync + fan on the new card? is the fan spinning up? would the fan be stopped with a rogue wire? is the card overheating? is there anything on the manufacturers forum that could help you?

thanks for the suggestions, fouind out that the first freezing problems were caused by the cd's cdrivers, so downloaded the newest drivers later with the black screen, it hasn't happened since a simple restart, all working well now
