Problem with HP2310i PC Monitor
Hi lfs community, i recently just bought this monitor in order to replace my old one. Thing is, in some cases, there is a strange noise comming from the monitor, witch happens when i play games at different resolutions.
But, i tried to switch from desktop - game and vice-versa and the noise sometimes goes away. And if i switch if off and switch it on again, the noise goes away.

cheers
Check the signal cable, on what interface are u on? Im currently on my Acer H233H - bought it some time ago, its kind of budget class monitor. Basically when i switch off my PC and when the signal dissapears from the videocard, the monitor starts searchin for it and while doing that its making kind of "sine" noise. Its not loud, but i can hear it everytime i switch off my PC at nights. Try switching to another interface, if ur on VGA for example. Also, check the guide that came with the monitor - there is a troubleshoot section, maybe this "noise" is listed in there. As far as i remember, my Acer troubleshooting page had it.

Also, consider that u might have a broken product, if u cant find any solution, then RMA it

Hi, i phoned hp about this and they said to exchange this monitor for a new one. I just bought it 3 or 4 days ago, so, in Portugal we have 15 days for a direct exchange.

But, i've put all my games up to the monitor's native resolution (1920x1080) and that noise hasn't come back .. yet. I've changed the position of the power cord because i've seen in another forum that it could be a problem with that.

Cheers

edit: the monitor is connected via DVI. I tried also VGA and the same thing happened.
If i understand it right, ur still on the old one?

If u can change it, then do so. Its always good to have a brand new one and most likely ull get a one thats double checked. Power cord positioning most likely doesnt change anything at all. Except if the plug is a bit slippery inside the port.
