Hi Guys, the engine block on my moped does not sound good at all. It worries me a bit. The engine makes a strange kind of zoom when in low revs.

Maybe LFS forum is a bit of a strange place to post it. But I am not able to look for the problem myself since I don't have the tools to open up the engine block.

I don't know. I bought it second handed. It has a new piston, crank shaft bearings, and lots of other stuff. But it still makes the same noise.
I opened up the gearbox to have a look at the clutch. But I can't seem to loosen up the 4 bolts on it!

You replaced those things yourself? Because It sounds like something went horribly wrong. Can you tell me from where the sound comes from? (Although I reckon it's coming from the cylinder...)

I did not change it. It was done by a specialist. Also this video was taken before the engine had a fixup. But the sound is still the same.

This moped was absolutely brand new.. until the previus owner screwed it in half a year. I already spend about 450 euro's on new parts and fixing.

When my bikes (Gilera DNA 50 2 stroke) oil pump died, it's engine note changed due to the lack of any lubrication before it seized up big time.

Sounds like something rubbing against something else, so yeah a lack of lubrication?

The oil pump still feeds oil. Because when I hit the throttle I can see the red lubricant flowing trough it. But I'll adjust it so it gets more oil.
But I jus't opened up the clutch. The clutch itself was intact. But in the middle there was a big ring, wich has 1 side folded upwards. That could not be right!

When i had my Aprilia Sonic GP 50 (stolen for now..) i had all kinds of problems with it (because it was fooked up by previous owner), but ive never had this kind of sound. Check the variator (im pretty sure its not that tho). At some points its like starter is working along with the engine. Remove the starter and see what happens. Im not sure if u know much about disassemblying a 2 stroke engine - if yes, open it up and see whats inside. There might be junks of crap/metal inside it. I remember, when i opened mine (changed cilinder to stage 6 chrome cilinder ... yeeaaa! ) then i saw somekind of waterish liquid in the motor. But well, im not quite sure. Im goin out now after posting this and will ask few buddys too.

Edit: Oh, and listen where the sound is coming from. Directly from the cilinder, air filter or thru the engine. Listen closely :]

There are exhaust fumes escaping from the exhaust manifold. I've tried 2 different exhausts but it doesn't help. And this is not a Scooter. This is a moped with 6 gears. I already disassembled half of the engine. Also took the clutch of. I'm probably gonna check how far its killed.

Some people tell me the crank shaft bearings are broken. But they are brand new. And the engine still sounds the same.

Just opened up the clutch, notice the bent ring.

thats just a locking washer to help prevent the nut on becoming loose.

possibly the starter is staying engaged causing gear whine.

The bent ring is supposed to be like that if I'm not mistaken. It's like that on motorcycle clutches, too, I think.

It's not like moped sound good in normal state.

Isn't there just a belt that's running loose or something like that.

There are no belts on this moped. A friend told me to remove the starter and try again. I'll try that.

I was thinking that is it one of these electric starters with a moter since to me its sounds like it is somehow engaging maybe the part that is connected to the actual drive is not working properly as in it not shutting down?

Solenoid engaging starter motor but not disengaging it once the engine has started, thats what it sounds like to me anyway.

Yes, the starter motor was named several times. Also the Bendix ( That how we call it in Holland ) stays on the Flywheel for a second after starting the engine. Also not correctly installing the crank shaft could be the problem. Tomorrow I'll take a look at some things!
