Hi guys,

Sometimes when I have downloads going on, but also want to stream video or something similar, I want to be able to organise my bandwidth so I can choose what program can use a particular amount of bandwidth. Is there such a program that does this? I'm not sure what such a program would be called so can't really search it on Google. Any help would be appreciated.

Fantastic! I'll give it a whirl. Thanks Funky Felix
what you're looking for is called quality of service (QoS), it's also one of the technologies ISP's use on their customers to squash P2P traffic. i believe windows natively can set up qos rules, without an external application. take a poke through the network interface's properties. (you might have to add it to the stack, but i think it's installed and enabled without rules by default)
Non-Home versions of Windows do have configurable QoS. You need to be able to make group policies and GPOs so you need to be a part of a AD domain and all that faff. Home versions need to use 3rd party solutions like Netlimiter or NetBalancer (http://www.seriousbit.com/netbalancer/).

hm, you appear to be right... i can install it, turn it on, but i can't configure it. you can use a home machine as a router, but you can't enable QoS. what a cheese.
