Any other myths Android-fags would like to try to spread? Their "open" platform that has them under a grip tighter than a vice grip on your dick? The one that sends everything you think about to Google? You think about drunk texting that slutty girl down the street? Google knows about it, and will start serving you ads about Escort services or condoms...

Left hand calls. Heard its possible.
Yeah, iPhone 4 can do it too. Any other myths you'd like to try to troll?
Really? Huh. I guess everyone was lying then. My bad!
Quote from yegadoyai :While you are going on about it, care to share where in the source that part is happening?
Everything on the google cloud is open to google to wander through at their will but messages do not get passed through google and will work quite happily when not connected to the internet. Google searches are, of course, tracked by google but all search engines do that so what's the fuss?
It's fun to pick holes in folks arguments and easy to be pious but the truth is there is very little difference between the platforms in any real way except for fringe users.
The fringe users that think it is cool to cobble together their own ROM and compile kernels for fun will prefer the Android route. The people that want a phone that is fashionable and has pretty much all the latest features will get an iphone. Everyone else just gets whatever happens to be appropriate for their needs/budget.

Hey, It could be being done. Google makes the OS, your Android phone if it can connect to a cell network, has a data connection. Voilá, Data farming by Google at its finest. (As I'm writing an article advocating Google Apps, but only because I haffto for work).

If you read that link posted above, it's the FCC's fault. Blame the FCC!
my contribution to this thread...apple sucks.
go open source!

Ahhh! Damn! I get what you mean now!

I remember now. Apple hate left handed people and charge them additional £25 to make phone calls with their phones.

Or, a cheaper solution, "...go f-yourself..." as advised by Mr.Jobs himself.

My bad! Total misunderstanding.
Or maybe it is an issue on SOME iPhone 4s, but not all, and tends to be for RIGHT HANDED PEOPLE - you know, people who hold the phone in the left hand and poke with their right? Anyone who jumps on the left handed bangwagon is clearly a fool

But as it doesn't effect all phones it can't be an inherent design flaw. So it must either be software (some sort of self calibration routine on the aerial at boot up going wrong on some devices that are slighly out of the limits the software expects?) or a manufacturing fault - probably, therefore, consigned to particular batches.
Thats right. But its still a bloody flaw and a right bitch-slap to people who got one with it and now cant do crap about it, isn't it?
Yes, it's a flaw. Maybe the software update that is coming will fix it completely - it could be 100% a software flaw. Or maybe those with the fault will be able to have the unit replaced under warranty when the next batch (or fixed batch, whatever!) is available.

But it's NOT every phone, so it CANNOT be the fault of the design itself. Most people seem to forget that and, despite knowing as much about aerial design as a dead hamster, write on blog comment lists that Apple are stupid to try a new design with no testing....

I've got nothing against rational dislike of iPhones - they're not for everyone, and I would never tell anyone it's the only mobile phone or smartphone worth getting. But pointless hatred of the brand because it's got a flaw, or because the marketing was a big strong ("This Changes Everything") even though it doesn't actually make the phone any better or worse is just silly. Isn't it?

Imagine someone coming to this forum and saying LFS is shit because it isn't made by Polyphony and doesn't work with PS3 controllers - we'd tell him he was mad to think that. But that is in effect what many of the iPhone-haters over the last couple of weeks have been doing...
You really think that? Replacement? From Apple? I would be very surprised.

OK. Not the design flaw. Let it be. But the recent advertising for antenna engineers and such, really tell me in big bright letters that Apple were playing with fire and screwed up.

Ey! I got nothing against iPhones either. Personally when iP3G came out I really liked it. It was a good piece of hardware. The reason I be hatin' now is purely because of people like Dawe who are so close minded they cannot put their hands up and admit when Apple cockup or simply do not deliver. Instead they go hating and trolling on Android/Google/Microsoft or whoever did something better.
Quote from DevilDare :You really think that? Replacement? From Apple? I would be very surprised.

I've seen iPhones/iPods replaced with a lot less then antenna problems, and even an iPod Classic that was dropped in the sea and wouldn't turn itself on. Replaced with a sparkling "new" one. For free. No charge.

And I can't really see Dawesdust trolling on non-Apple forums. Usually it's the other way round. Like here, for instance. A thread about the iPhone and BANG, lots of Apple haters, like [RCG]Boosted.

Yes, Apple are great at replacing products! Even after the warranty has expired. Maybe not quite as good as Logitech, but still...

I'm sure Apple have adverts for people all over the world all the time. Merely a coincidence that they advertised for antenna "engineers" at the time of iP4's launch. If they knew the problem existed (and the ad listings show job adverts listed BEFORE the release date) then why release it? Why not fix the problem first?

But I don't think Android, Google or Microsoft (well, too early to tell from MS really) have done better. And Dustin has admitted there are flaws. But he's defending the product much like LFSers (including you in the past Devil) have defended LFS. Nothing wrong with that. The iPhone IS a great smartphone - nobody can deny that. You don't sell that many phones (many as upgrades) purely on marketing and name with a shoddy product. Some people (me, Dustin etc) think it's the best phone on the market. Others don't. Most have flaws. Some are well known, others are less well known. Some are just plain lies.

Sorry to ruin your troll-roll here Dustin, but only your searches are sent to Google... nothing in the messaging app goes anywhere near Google.

Ads are only found in certain apps from the market - none are in any of the default apps, and even then they are context sensitive (i.e. not based on emails / messaging, just the on screen info atm).

Apple has a very good track record for replacing defective items. Hell, at one time.. they'd send you pairs of earbuds if you claimed yours were broken, without returning them or a serial number even. They still have a battery replacement program for iBook G4's.. which are like 7 years old. Then there's people with shattered iPhones that have been able to have them just replaced. Apple does very good in this regard, even replacing items sometimes when it is user error (like getting shot, and the bullet hitting the iPod... he really should have worn the iPod underneath the bulletproof vest).

Hate all you want on Apple, but their customer service if you need it, is normally one of the best.

Jack.. nothing Google TELLS you goes near the messaging app... For all you know there could be a random kernel hook somewhere, ambigiously named, that does the dirty work for Google. Just throwing some conspiracy out there, how as much as I do trust Google.. you shouldn't blindly trust them
is jailbreaking an ipod touch illegal?

i have the one that was available the previous christmas, idk what gen it is

Fair deal. You got me there.

Ah of course, how could I forgot the old conspiracy theories. Nevermind!

*facepalm*

No, Jailbreaking isn't illegal at all. It potentially voids the warranty, but a restore makes a jailbroken iPod/iPhone unidentifiable from an unjailbroken one.

Hey, People still refuse to use chrome, becuase they go "OMG GOOGLE IS HARVESTING MY SEARCHES" because it sends Google data when they type any letters, becuase it's attempting to do the predictive search thing
thanks

How can you say they offer less then your "current gadgets" if you haven't tried them?

erm, by reading reviews, watching reviews on youtube and also reading about it on forums. you know, the old fashioned app free way. does the iphone have dolby mobile? or can it play divx straight out of the box? if you answer no to these questions then my current setup can do more.

see wasn't so hard now was it?

Dawe, i did have a post typed out for you but there's at least a dozen posts in this thread that would do the same trick. i take it you're breaking in a new broken record app on the ipadnano.
Quote from dawesdust_12 :Any other myths Android-fags would like to try to spread? Their "open" platform that has them under a grip tighter than a vice grip on your dick?

i'll attest to this. my current phone is a motorola, which runs a linux-based operating system predating android. the filesystem is definitely linux, and there are linux binaries installed all over the phone. there is an extensive EULA on the phone.

can i get root on it? no. if i can, nobody knows how yet, and probably won't bother now that the phone is discontinued.
can i write apps in c/c++ and install them on the phone? no. the phone prevents unsigned applications from running on the phone. if i want to make an application, it has to be in J2ME, and can't access the inner depths of the phone.

hell, because of the DRM, i can't even use audio files on my memory card for ringtones.

so just because it has linux on it, doesn't make it "Open".
By that logic, my PS3 is a better gadget than a Windows computer, becaue my PS3 can play DivX, XVid, MP3's, DVD's, Blu-Ray's, Games etcera out of the box, whereas *GASP* Windows requires applications to do all of those.

Guys, the Irish guy said it.. PS3 is better than a home computer, because PS3's can do more out of the box.

I'm pretty sure your post you had typed out was full of crap as all your posts usually are full of either rumours, crap or garbage.

Dolby Mobile.. ****ing Dolby is a joke.. they're so scammy. Yeah "Enhance mobile audio experience".. whoopee.. We will make your earbuds sound so marginally better that the outside noise that creeps in will nullify the gain unless you're in a perfectly soundless room. 5.1 Audio on a mobile device.. "Yeah guys, I have this phone, but then look.. I hooked it up to this huge sound setup... so I can watch a movie on a 4 inch screen.. but it's surround sound.. don't worry" So horribly dumb!

no, you said it. come on dude. such a noobish remark. kinda puts the rest of your posts into perspective. and how did my nationallity come into it? again, posts and perspective i guess.
i can buy a laptop today and play any movie i want on it (straight out of the box). you might not believe this but the ps3 also has an operating system. so you're little comparisson is not that accurate.
so, because the ipadnano doesn't do something (dolby for example), then that something is deemed shit or cheap?

Along with school grades mean shit. Letters on a piece of paper. For all we know your dad could have either bought the grades for you.

Quote from dawesdust_12 :Winamp did the same to me. I got pissed off and removed Winamp. Piece of ****ing shit.

However, VLC atelast took the associations back when I told it to. Piece of shit Winamp.

it's like saying "stupid computer". winamp works fine on my pc and many other would say the same. wouldn't this mean that the peice of shit is either the pc or the user? you also have a post removed. must have been some major garbage for a mod to have to remove it.

Excellent, lets take a bunch of out of context posts and bring them in, especially sarcastic, humourous posts from a ****ing SOCCER thread! The Winamp point is Winamps fault, as it was, by default, taking over associations where it shouldn't have, and I told it specifically NOT to.

My Comparision of the PS3 is correct, as you're saying that if it can't do something out of the box it's shit. If I went and bought a Windows machine, I couldn't expect it to play an AVI in XVid or DivX, or a .mov file.. However I can do that effortlessly with my PS3.

If you're letting your computer install applications to support something.. surprise, I can install MobileVLC or one of the many MPlayer front ends that exist in Cydia. So yeah, my iPhone can play DivX or XVid.

And I'm sorry, your iPad Nano remark is retarded. It'd be like me calling a Mini a Smart MEGASIZE!
