Or do you want them to give a text message when pressing them?

Yes. I want Alt+F1, for example, to execute "/press CapsLock" command.

i imagine a insim program like the siren one where you have to press numlock to enable it. im trying to do something similar, only to pit...to spec is /spec but pit isnt /pit or anything

You can bind any command to any [Ctrl/Alt]+[F1-12] combination. Like turning on hazard lights via "/press 9".

Pressing most of keys is easy - you type "/press 9", "/press K", "/press ctrl", but "/press caps[lock]" doesnt work.

According to this and the "Commands.txt" file in LFS/docs you can't assign Caps Lock, Num Lock or Scroll lock.
