Why are they inferior? If physx really is that good, they would support it, so it's not nvidia only, but they chosen not they, and I assume they got their reasons for it. If you can get the same, according to you, with havok, why would the dev's of M2 pick physx, when they will lose some copies, because ATi users don't want to play it, because of the physx, or less ATi users will play it because they can't 'max it out'... I won't think that, but I bet there are enough of people out there that do think so. About AMD, I'm a bit an Intel fan, but I'm hearing alot of good about AMD lately, what's wrong with them? They sound like the more 'budget' choice, just like ATi, but ATi in this case is faster, so that's a win-win situation.

It's not that they would support it.. they can't. I'm pretty sure though that any ATi users would play it because really.. it makes no change. Where the PhysX comes into play, there's this APEX PhysX setting.. which will likely stress a CPU for physics.. but on a GPU it'd run smooth.

You're grasping at straws here... You're saying that it's "shit" because it uses PhysX.. but then ATi have their own "monopoly" with Havok acceleration (along the SAME lines as PhysX with NVidia). Not to mention if an ATi user really wanted to max any game out, they'd go buy an NVidia card anyways.

AMD is inferior. Yes they're budget, but they're also slow as shit.

Also, you said that GTA is more realistic and alive.. yet in Mafia if you DRAW a gun, nevermind fire it.. cops will come and try to fine you. GTA you can wander around with a gun out and nobody cares. Not to mention Mafia keeps a persistent (ish) wanted level until you change your clothes.

I played the PC demo for a little while last night and found it really awesome (other than the PC controls.. so I'll buy it for PS3).

wow guys....try taking the magazine at where you start off...near the kitchen....

This thing isn't 18+?

Haha, yeah I seen that one too, I'm wondering the same.

Wikipedia says that for the 3 rating boards, it is rated "M" which is the highest most games will push the ratings (AO games tend to not get sold anywhere). When games like Mass Effect 2 get a M rating, same with Saboteur with its topless burlesque dancer intro... A bit of porno mag fits in pretty consistently with an M rating.
it's an 18+. Look on steam.
Quote from Luke.S :it's an 18+. Look on steam.

Depends on region. For Canada/US.. it's 17+ (an "M" rating).. Somewhere also it's an MA15+.. which is insane actually.. Oh right, Australia.. they lack an 18+ rating.. hence they get cut games as well.

I get that, but XBL doesn't really have age check does it? kids would have stumbled upon tits without knowing.

Playmate no.5 is even better.

Liking everything so far, you can customize cars, wash cars, put gas in cars, the damage is pretty nice as well, also liking the fighting mechanics.

Now just try if steering wheel works with the driving.

where?

it does. I, like a honest person would do, put my real age when i created my account. since im only 16 i can't get my hands on the demo since XBL does not allow me to. therefore i'll have to wait 2 weeks time and use my silver account and then play it.... or just rent the damn game when it comes out. wich i will.

a garage with a spanner icon on the map. you can change rims, plates and something else I forgot.

btw the default car control is on normal, switch it to simulation and you can powerslide, lock up tires and stuff!

Just tried with the 360 wheel, it works but is missing the left analog, so controller switching is required between foot and vehicle session, I might just use this to cruise a bit. (same as when I play Mafia the first one)
First mafia even had clutch
Rims, Paint (2 different colors for some cars), plates (for the cops, or just fun), and tuning the engine and handing in two stages.

I'm still torn between PC or PS3 version. PC becuase it actually.. worked well on my PC with very good looking graphics.. or PS3 for ease of use. PC would allow me to use my G25 for sure, but maybe my PS3 would too..

Bah, so many thoughts.. Maybe I'll do a GTA and buy it for all 3 platforms.. 8-)

You probably should, If this is not hard to mod there's huge potential with the PC version, although the stock stuff are already very good to start with. how's the controller support on the PC version? are there options for shifter, clutch and dual controllers?

Didn't really poke around.. I played it just KB+Mouse but found those controls to be pretty awkward. Not bad, but I guess I'm so used to playing console games.

i have a duel core (yes duel core) that is far from slow. i have this demo maxed out without physx enabled and i hit my vsync. turn my physx on and i get 20fps average. still playable on the highest level. and my slow as shit amd still manages to keep up with the over priced intel quads.
AMD PhenomII 550
8GB DDR2 ram
GTX470
2 things:
1) GTX470 is a good card.
2) PhysX is GPU accelerated when using an NVidia card, which means the CPU isn't being taxed for physics calculations anyways.

You are actually eliminating the AMD from most of the game equation anyways by using a good NVidia card.

Example: Last night on my Dual-Core i7, 330M (MOBILE) Macbook Pro.. I was running it at high detail with no issues. It's amazing considering GTA4 is unplayable on the same computer. So Mafia II is a lot more optimized as a game, and a lot of the effort does get offput to the GPU.

but without my slow as shit amd, none of it would work.

By that logic.. a 1.0L I2 is the best engine, because it allows the turbine that's pushing the car as well to break a land speed record.

Dude, the GPU is holding that computer afloat. Go put an ATi card and watch it sink like a stone.
i'm not trying to argue with you dawesdust, i just feel that saying amd are slow chips is a bit extreme. have you looked at their hex core processors? even my duel core is not to be second guessed. in some tests, it out performed some of intels quad cores and also amd quad cores. the phenom duel core series are a strange chip. they have 4 cores with 2 of them disabled.

EDIT. the same system didn't do too shabby with an 8800GT in it either.

They're not actually "strange"... they're the rejects that had a core that wasn't operational.. they'd break another core and sell them as dual cores.

AMD just have seemed insignificant compared to Intel. Intel is cranking out i7's and better.. while AMD seem to have stagnated and aren't up to snuff.

so why are people able to unlock two perfectly fine cores? yes the idea was to use defect quads but because they were so popular, amd had to start disabling perfectly fine quads to meet the demand for their duel core chips. the cores are not "broken" either. they're just disabled. most motherboards that have the chipset better than the AMD770 are able to unlock both cores with a simple bios update and setting change.
so that means that if you buy the best amd phenom duel core and have a board that has the AMD 780 (or better) chipset, you can unlock the two cores giving you a quad core cpu for less than £90.
you can't get that with intel.
also, the socket AM3 chips drop straight into a socket AM2+ board which means you can also get their new hex core chips to run with DDR2 ram. saving you a fortune when you next upgrade.

back on topic.
i tried the game. looks good. should be fun.
the smoke looks amazing.

That's the most utter rubbish thing I've heard... You are aware of the 5xxx series of ATi are you?
Yeah... After spending couple more hours playing the demo I can safely say Bose's statement is complete bollocks.

Police chasing others. Police giving fines to other people. Police shooting other people. Also, I saw a granny bribing a cop...

The citizens also react to your actions and movement etc. So stand next to a guy who is having a bad day and he will go apeshit at you.

Also the police arent stupid and dont only target you even when you are involved. For example, if you push someone and he is the first to punch and knock you out, the cops will tell him off. Or even better, when a gang start shooting at me, they will go for them.

Its great. Saying its not alive as GTA4 is very, very retarded.
