I think i have big trouble with the Driver for my ATI9800pro.
When I have installed the ATI Catalyst driver LFS will stops (lag) every 10 seconds on Online games.
Also with the Omega driver.

When i race offline everything is OK! And no LAG!
When i play on lan games -> ~every 10sec. LAG!

I have Test this with the latest Catalyst and Omega drivers.
Sometimes it helps to change the driver from Omega to Catalyst.
But after some time the same again.
By the moment i have the original WinXP driver installed and so it works.

Can anyone help??

This only happens in online games? Then it is rather your connection or ISP than your GFX Card.

I use the same (Saphire ATI RADEON 9800Pro 128 Mb) and do not have any graphical stuttering.

EDIT: I use the newest Omegas, as BOS doesn't work with the 5.8ers

But this weekend my ISP Aon hat server problems which caused lag and made a few homepages unaccesible.

I have tried new modem drivers (56k) and nothing helps.
And on LAN games the same problem!

After reinstalling my OS with the newest drivers the same.
Deinstall drivers for VGA -> it works!

I know it sounds like ISP put why on LAN games the same?
And i know it sounds like the trouble is between the shoulders!

Please Help!

any security-software running? firewall, anti virus or something?

you do get lag each time you use network connection, so it seems like a network or network-security realted problem

since it also happens in LAN games, i would rule out ISP problems

clean install of winxp with deactivate firewall.
edit: now every time play lfs online or LAN. two weeks ago it runs with catalyst.

only forceware for nforce2 chip.

may help -> system:
XP2000@2400Mhz compressor cooling
9800pro, 1024mb corsair ram, trust 56k modem pci,
abit nf7s, sony dvd brenner, thoshiba dvd, 80gig ata, 120gigsata, 150gig sata, usb ifeel mouse, microsoft wheel.
new install of winxp pro sp2 with only nforce2 drivers.
nothing installed, only lfs.

on other partition winxpsp2 installed and all other games runs (gta, moha, hl2,....)

I've heard about this problem in other games. There the solution was to disable WLAN in Bios.

Just a suggestion.

i dont have some wlan.
but i will look up to find some option in the bios.

Try to remove all Network-Protokolls and reinstall them. Maybe this helps.

Do you have this problem in other games too when plaing LAN or on the internet?

but only play a bit of Counterstrike.

I will test a other vga card tonight.

I put my CPU back to normal speed.
Now the LAGs are gone.
I hope this is not for the moment.

Yeah. I've read some postings here that LfS doesn't work that good with overclocked components in your PC.

I have almost even overclockable thing in my PC overclocked, I think the important thing is to keep your parts cooled, have something like CPU Idle to cool your comp down and monitor your temperature and of course, don't be too greedy when you overclocked, just overclock a little.

LFS runs a lot faster when I overclocked my PC from my old AMD Athlon 2500+ 1.8GHZ to a 3200+2.2GHZ.

Seems that the goold ol' AMD 2500+ is a good one to overclock. I've been running mine at 3000+ (no balls to take it higher, no need yet either) with no problems in LFS. Although i did buy a new case.

So if you do overclock, keep things cool.
