Nascar skins?

Quote from WH33LNUT :??Nascar Skins

Don't know of any lately, seems most ppl reproduce F1 skins atm, perhaps you want to try to design your own? It isn't as hard as it seems, There are some very good tutorials available at Master Skinners Forum that cover the most popular paint packages, It's time consuming, I agree, but so rewarding when you finish something that looks really good.

Have a bit of a play and see how you go, everyone here will offer advice & mild criticism to assist you. I look fwd to seeing some great skins from your paintshop in the near future

Cheers ShannonN
we have no.. nascar type cars so there really isnt any point imo

Are we suddenly using Ye Olde Worlde English on the forums ?

If so, you missed off the "my good fellows" bit at the end.

If there arn't any Nascar skins available, then why not try doing one yourself, there's plenty of folk that will give you help and advice, and it's quite good fun too. It feels good when you go online with a skin you've made. My "homemade" skins arn't the best in the world but, at least they're unique, and because they're not the best quality, no-one wants to nick em
I've made a couple of Jeff Gordon skins for the FXR, but I'll leave it to you to find them.
WOW is it really that hard to give him the link?
Is it really that hard for him to do a little research himself? There's loads of requests like this and most of the time the people haven't had the slightest attempt to search the things they ask for.
I agree there. I especially love the folks with questions on DFPs that say "I've searched and looked all over the forum and didn't find anything to help... what settings should I use for DFP..." or something similarly stupid that a search would net 3-4 pages of exactly what that person is asking.

On topic, in the beginning, I loosely based my skins, not on real Nascar paintschemes, but the general layout of them. IE, I put a bunch of contingency sponsors on the fenders like Nascar. But for the type of racing and cars in LFS, it just didn't look right.
Edit: Interesting, the edit button didn't work. I wanted to clarify that it was teaz-R I was agreeing with .
heeeyyyy my old fellows, one did look, one would also be suspecting that if there 'twould be any nascar skins, surely they be for the FXO?

One must aquire a copy of photoshop, as paint is not really a satisfactory skin maker..

One has made a few skins with paint, but one finds it takes far too long with paint as you have to use the eraser around the edges of each decal removing every single pixel in order to get a clean look.

ach well.. the hunt goes on..

Gimp is free. I've never tried it, but many use it for skins. I've seen some really good skins that Gimp was used.
any chance of a link to 'ye olde gimp?'

Nascar?... pff illepall
what's wrong with lovin all motorsports?

First off, it's not a sport. Hey Cletus, do you hear me? Not a sport! Any jackoff can drive in a circle for three hours and not crash, especially since the only participants are white males. Where's the fun in that? Let's get Asians, old women with three kids in the car, 16-year-old girls driving Mustangs.... At least that would provide a challenge, and serve some entertainment value.

And furthermore, what possible athletic ability does it take to drive? At least in golf, you have to be able to swing a club and wear tight pants while walking 18 holes. What the hell do NASCAR drivers do? Do you have to work out in the off-season? Hell no. All you have to do is drive fast. Still, some people try to make the NASCAR drivers come off as great athletes. Who gives a rat's ass if a guy wins a race? That's not his victory. That's the car. '

wow whats up your ass man..though im not a big fan of nascar, its not easy. Maybe you should enter the NASCAR league, show us how easy it is
Nothing up my ass... just telling it like it is.
Actually it just shows how ignorant you are, there's so much more to oval racing then just 'going in circles'. mistakes cost you more, you need to be consistant every lap, and hit the corners perfect, because small errors lead to 10th's or 100th's off laptime which obviously mean alot more in oval racing. And yeah, car setup is more important in oval racing, and also a HELL of a lot more advanced then road course racing, so drivers need to really know what the car is doing and also what changes to make and shit. There's also drivers in nascar who shouldn't be racing in it right now, but.. thats what money gets you.
I certainly hope you're not comparing Nascar to F1 racing?!
better not be, have you seen the technology that goes in F1 cars, they nearly all made of carbon fibre and plastics they weigh less than NASCAR's, takes a bit more skill on a race circuit like monaco where sometimes the roads are like 20ft wide in some parts
There is no comparison. The driver skill level doesn't even come close with Nascar. Mistakes certainly don't cost you more in Nascar. Consistancy is way way way more important in F1.

"hit the corners perfect, because small errors lead to 10th's or 100th's off laptime which obviously mean alot more in oval racing."
It's actually the exact opposite.

"car setup is more important in oval racing and also a HELL of a lot more advanced then road course racing"
Not even close.

"There's also drivers in nascar who shouldn't be racing in it right now, but.. thats what money gets you."
There aren't any drivers in F1 that 'shouldn't be racing' and F1 has way more money.

It's just plain foolish to compare Nascar to the highest level of motorsports being Formula 1. Anybody with half a brain (even a Nascar driver) will tell you that.
:iagree:
Me thinks the ignorance out to stop very quickly here before it expands any further.

Vancouver_Canuck obviously knows exactly what he's talking about, since he was the Nascar champion, what year was it again? illepall
