Changing track surface
I think it would be a big step to the ultimate simulation to introduce this idea. What do i mean?

In the beginning of the race the track surface is dusty and grip is relatively low. Then as cars do more and more laps we can see the ideal racing line better and better because of the small pieces of tyre that remains on track. On this racing line the grip is better and better.

What do you think?
Already included I think, I know that graphical wise it's already there..

Strange i haven't realized it. But I'm sure grip in the 1st and the last lap of a race is the same on track which is not really realistic.
strange ye, look at this

And this screenshot confirms that grip is increasing?( ...which is the main point of this thread.)
its not already in LFS, although it would be fun

its something for S3 i think, if someone went off the track and got their tyres muddy, they would pull mud back on the track and spread it all around, making the track slippery.

if it rained this would be complex aswell, the parts where the rubber is would become very slippery.

to do it wouldnt be too hard for the gods, but to do it properly would be i think. example, all of the above plus the fact that if cars with harder rubber ran on the track at the same time as the cars with softer tyres, in real life it would remove the soft rubber.

also if there was lots of UF1 rubber down from a race, it would make the track very slippery for other types of tyre (FOX for example), but faster for the UF1s. (i dont see many UF1s out with FOXs, but its just an example) the different compounds have different grip qualities and arent compatible
Where did you hear about this thing that different types of rubbers are not "compatible" with each other? For example in F1 the grip is much better on tracks where there are races frequently (no matter what kind of car race is that).
No, actually Senna has a point.

F1 cars run very soft rubber (even one race tyres are soft compared to any road tyre), and if they drive just after a slower category (GT Cup for example) there is actually slightly less grip than if the track was 'green'.

I think this is because the harder rubber tends to polish the track, and the F1 cars take a few laps to roughen it up again.

As the moment this isn't in LFS, but now we have variable grip (dirt on tyres), and we've had the racing line thingy for ages, then having variable grip will be soon [splat]*

But! If you up the rate of rubber lay (cfg.txt) would that help you? If you set LFS to only draw the line of the user, would that mean they would benefit more than someone who uses All Car's lines?

I think it's a bit more complicated that it initially appears, but if anyone can do it, Scawen can.

Check out GTR - they use LiveTrack Technology, which means that the racing line has more grip. But (and it's a BIG but), the LiveTrack doesn't change with time or variety of lines used. It is hard coded into the track file, and does not change. Another example of the joke that is GTR...

*Soon is made in reference to geological terms.
I am not a programmer, but what about putting some (a lot of...) checkpoints on the track with a number (which means grip) which would count the cars going over it and every time increases the grip slightly. Sorry if its a nonsense

That's not particularly "live" then is it? Didn't F1C have the same solution/problem? I wonder where the connection is...
Well I think by live they used a different definition of what you're thinking.
Live- Real time, happening present time.
Live- Alive, living, has realistic charactoristics (I spelt that wrong shhh).
How about,
Rain (surface water) , snow = more slippy surface?

Now wouldn't that be cool for the final release of S2 :-D
hard to do properly. u would need to simulate rubbering up of the track (which reduces grip in the wet) to do that properly, the devs seem to want to do everything properly, so maybe one for the final release of S3
I have faith

Im sure they could do it...
