Where is the helmet?
I was thinking about that today: I don´t know any racing sim, where you have an first person view from the inside of an helmet.

I mean, woudn´t it be even a more realistic feeling driving such sportscars with really feeling inside the drivers body??

You could also if driving a Formel one-type car put out the protectionstrips of the helmet if visibility is bad.

Or perhaps even hear your breathing nois when driving fast into curves where the centrifugal force is big?

What do you think about that?
nk pro has this feature, where the helmet visor also gets clogged with dirt, and you have to press a button to wipe it off with your hand
GP4 had an in helmet view.

Its difficult enough to simulate a car, simulating the human body is far more difficult, where would it stop if you were to try that? adding a 0.1sec delay in steering and pedal inputs to compensate for the gloves/soles of the boots?

Screen blacks out every few secs to simulate blinking?

I think sticking to the cars would be best put a helmet on if you want to simulate it

If you can hear that then you need to ask your pit crew to switch over to "push to talk" mode.

Three things strike me as being needed for a helmet simulation.

At the start of the race everyones visor should be misted, it should clear rapidly once you start moving. (sometimes I start practically blind - but it doesnt matter, there's no oncoming traffic until the first braking zone).

The graphics would have to support scratches in the visor that pick out glints from the sun. (scratches are attracted to visors by some kind of arcane magnetism.)

There should be a visible "open visor" along the very bottom edge of the screen, theoretically to reduce mist, but we all know it's because racing drivers love the smell of petrol.
Imagine misting visors in the wet :o

I still remember my first wet race (being Scotland it wasn't the last ) when my visor misted up so bad I couldn't see. I had to open it up as much as I could to see but couldn't breathe down the straights so had to close it again. Spent more time on playing with the visor than steering the kart

Close enough?

Amen! Screw theory!

hehe..good one. Could be hard in the formulas to set the view like this. You'd be inside the car methinks

You didn't have these?

Well all thats going to do is keep the water off the visor which was never a real problem for me it's the mist inside the visor thats the biggest problem.

i dont think we need it tbh.
IRL drivers spend their time trying to get the visor as clean and clear as possible so why add scratches to it in a game when we could do without it?
Ok i think the nKar tear-off system is a nice feature, but you shouldn't "see" the visor.
Also if you use proper de-mister and leave your visor open a small bit if never fogs up.

True, but that visor allows you to cut the helmet's own visor so it doesn't mist anymore

On topic, I wouldn't want to see this kind of realism, seeing the visor, any unnecessary reflections etc.. Annoying in real life, even more annoying in a game that can very well do without such features

Maybe roadcars should also have a reflection of the dashboard on the windscreen when you're facing the sun!

if we could see the windscreen from inside of the car, looks like it isnt there. the windscreen are totaly, perfect clear.
well...i don´t think its that bad!!
I mean, it gives more the impression of beeing the driver, not just the "car" which you drive.
i started driving using widescreen effect last night, and i like it alot, also started using it with the incar view instead of tires, its much more fun now
