The online racing simulator
Quote from The Very End :Even if it does look a little "jelly" it's great looking. How they managed to implent damage to cars that is this much detailed, aswell as ensuring 60FPS with the PS3 hardware is beyound me.

I think at some parts nobody really looks at are extremely low res textures.
And a bit of fairy magic also helps.
Quote from BurnOut69 :So, the date is getting closer and closer. Im a total n00b regarding console pricing, any idea how much the bundle will cost?

Well the console itself is 250-299 euros in most parts of europe, can't say how much the bundles are.. It's often better to buy the console and games seperately..

Quote from jibber :Driving physics beyond car limits still look nervous and twitchy as hell... ohh well, no surprise actually.

We don't know if this was standard of pro physics..
Playing with a pad, of course it's going to look twitchy..

Quote :Sony's put together a new website promoting their "PlayStation Experience Tour" across France, and it features a noteworthy little bullet point regarding Gran Turismo 5's heavily-rumored weather system. Via Google Translator:

...the light passes from the sunny morning after the night was black and the climate will play tricks on you during endurance.

This is important because it suggests the game's weather will not be static, but dynamic and changing throughout the course of your race - a significant detail which hasn't yet been confirmed. Let's hope for more solid weather-related info to be officially revealed at the Tokyo Game Show, starting this Thursday. Thanks to Kobhalt for digging this one up!

It's your good right to keep your hopes up, but i won't be disappointed again. I've settled my mind on getting a disk full of car porn, and eventually some fun laps while driving those cars (but that'd really just be an added bonus).

It doesn't matter if it was played with a pad. The way the car acts when it spins out is just looking way too similar to previous GT versions (prologue, time attack demo).

But anyway, i guess i'm just trolling... so ignore this please!
I honestly don't know what some of you find so wrong with Academy demo physics.. It was miles better then GT4 and GT5p.. the weight transfer was freakin awesome.. and that version is 1 year old now. I'm just saying that i will be happy even if it remains on that level. It was realistic enough to put it in the sim category.. and besides, we really are behaving here like we're proffesional racing drivers.. every game has it's flaws in physics department, we don't have to look further then our beloved LFS to see that..

For me it was the lack of feedback I got from the wheel and it slid a bit to easy.
Other then that miles better that Gt4 for sure so if they improve them slightly and have over a 1000 cars this game will be well worth it.
This is the 2nd of 2 games I have pre ordered this year and I never did that before. So that says something .
Quote from The Very End :Even if it does look a little "jelly" it's great looking. How they managed to implent damage to cars that is this much detailed, aswell as ensuring 60FPS with the PS3 hardware is beyound me.

Well, I'd take Jelly damage over the forza "each car has like 10 different models for damage". People raved about forza's damage model, but I personally found it to be very simplistic.

Agree with you, I like the damage system
However I never played Forca much, nor crashed, so I don't know what the damage system Forca had.
ZOMG!

I just saw a short trailer at Kaz's presentation at TGS just then of snow, rain with wipers on the car working and Le Man race at night!
And something like a Bus on a snow course???

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_gT6nmnqf ... s/6KNG2uREBEc/GT5_044.jpg

Also a short clip of a RedBull car sitting on a windtunnel - in GT5
X1 Protoype I think. The same windtunnel seen in the FT86g trailer

Quote :overview of Community Functionality: He says they haven't talked much about these features before. But from the My Home section of the game, you'll be able to access Messages, Logs, Mail, Profile, A personal lounge, photo album, course album, gifts and a friends list.

Messages can be 140 characters. Man Twitter has really taken off in Japan. It's even influencing GT5.

You'll be able to access the my home from the My Home section.
I mean you'll be able to access the My Home section from the web.

There's going to be a live timing monitor, something called PS3-B-Spec accesible from your browser.

Project "X1 Prototype"
He says that there are rules and regulations in all forms of racing. What would a car that didn't have to worry about those rules look like?
Showing a movie of the X1. It looks kinda like a Batmobile.

So the X1 will be in GT5, and that's it for the game.

People were questioning what PD have done in the last 5 years???

Quote :Yamauchi says this is their third presentation -- E3, Gamescom and now TGS.

A new course for GT5 is Laguna Seca -- rebuilt for GT5. Another new course is Trail Mountain.

The night track is the Circuit de la Sarthe. It looks exactly like it does for races.

There is the Volkswagon Kubelwagen -- designed by Mr. Porsche. Another is the VW Schwimmagen, which can drive in water. Also designed by Porsche. Sadly, this game won't be in the release of GT5.

Another VW is the Samba Bus.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:15
1:16 Another is a concept car, the Isuzu 4200R

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:16
1:16 Yamauchi is showing off "interesting" cars for GT5.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:16
1:17 The other car is a GT by Citroen

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:17
1:17 Polyphony Digital designed the car's interior.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:17
1:18 We are done with the interesting cars, and we have moved on to the "My Home" function of GT5

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:18
1:20 These are features that have been discussed in the past.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:20
1:20 Now we are talking about "Gran Turismo Anywhere"

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:20
1:22 You can access My Home from a web browser on the internet.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:22
1:22 So, you don't need your PS3 to check your messages or your photos, but you can check them at gran-turismo.com

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:22
1:22 You log in with your PSN id

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:22
1:23 This version of My Home will appear on gran-turismo.com when the game launches.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:23
1:24 You can perform races on the net through a function called "Remote Races"

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:24
1:24 So you can play with your friends through the Bspec mode

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:24
1:24 via an internet browser.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:24
1:25 If you keep your PS3 on Remote Mode, when you are outside, the PS3 will act as a server that will host games you play when out of your home.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:25
1:26 He says Gran Turismo Anywhere is a bridge between the console and the browser game industry

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:26
1:27 The game has a series of special events like Karting Experience, the AMG driving school, The Stig Challenge, Jeff Gordon NASCAR School, Sebastien Loeb Rally Challenge, Gran Turismo Rally

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:27
1:28 Today, they are going to show us a Gran Turismo Rally

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:28
1:28 It is not a simply dirt time trial. Every time you play, the track will change

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:28
1:29 The special stages are automatically generated. You can hear the voice of the navigator!

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:29
1:29 Yamauchi is going to play a live demo

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:29
1:29 He goes into the special event section.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:29
1:30 And has selected the rally.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:30
1:30 The number of special stages is determined by the level you achieve.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:30
1:31 The course was generated just now.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:31
1:31 And Yamauchi is off!

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:31
1:32 The voice of the navigator is audible.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:32
1:32 You can drive by either listening to the navigator or by looking at the map in the center of the screen.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:32
1:33 You can play the Rally Mode offline or online.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:33
1:34 Now, we are onto the in-game weather changes. The game has a dynamic weather system. So weather temp, pressure and humidity changes. Surface changes also change along with the weather!

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:34
1:35 The weather conditions are randomized. You will get a real forecast, but it will only be a guideline.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:35
1:37 If it is wet, you'll be exposed to water sprays from the cars in front of you.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:37
1:37 The weather system is only used for tracks you want to use for endurance races.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:37
1:37 The courses you create in the course maker will be compatible with this.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:37
1:37 Now they are showing a trailer of the weather mode. Lots of snow!

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:37
1:38 Slick rainy streets.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:38
1:38 You think GT5 has great looking cars? This is great looking weather!

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:38
1:38 Now, driving at night -- during the day, dusk and dawn.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:38
1:39 Project "X1 Prototype" is on the screen.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:39
1:40 This is a continuation of what was shown at E3 with regards to what Gran Turismo is doing with Red Bull racing.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:40
1:40 It started with a question: What would a racing car, freed of all technical regulations look like?

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:40
1:41 The design was done by Polyphony Digital, the partner was Red Bull Racing, and the tech advisor was Adrian Newey.

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:41
1:42 The car has Newey's child like dream of making an incredibly fast car.
Thursday September 16, 2010 1:42
1:42 Now they are showing the car.
Thursday September 16, 2010 1:42
1:42 The faint outline of Red Bull's logo
Thursday September 16, 2010 1:42
1:43 It's hard to make out the car, we are getting blurry images.
Thursday September 16, 2010 1:43
1:43 Shot of a driver
Thursday September 16, 2010 1:43
1:43 The car ZOOMS by in shadow
Thursday September 16, 2010 1:43
1:43 We didn't get a clear look at it.
Thursday September 16, 2010 1:43
1:45 Yamauchi says that the complexity of the project is reaching the Apollo scale, but they are almost ready to launch.
Thursday September 16, 2010 1:45
1:45 Someone is asking about putting motorbikes in GT5.
Thursday September 16, 2010 1:45
1:46 He says if there is enough demand (once the game is done), they would certainly like to do it!
Thursday September 16, 2010 1:46
1:47 For those who want to race with more than two people on a dirt track, select a dirt race through My Lounge and you can race with many more cars.
Thursday September 16, 2010 1:47
1:48 "There are actually lots of things that we couldn't get into Gran Turismo 5. So in that sense, we have begun work on Gran Turismo 6."

Thursday September 16, 2010 1:48
1:50 Yamauchi is talking about how the sounds of the engines has been improved
Thursday September 16, 2010 1:50

1:51 If you do a standing start in a race with 15 cars in front of you, all kicking up water in front of you, there might not be 60 frames per second.
Thursday September 16, 2010 1:51
1:51 so besides extraordinary situations like this, they are shooting for 60 frames per second

Did I read that right?
GT5 will have a VW Kubelwagen/Schwimmwagen AND a campervan?!

Oh god oh god oh god I do hope so!
There is aswell! :O
Campers, minis, everything else thats a bit wierd and out there they put in etc. I love GT, thank god I pre-ordered it!

I hope theres an old beetle in there, too...
yeah, rally staging in a Kübelwagen, Pikes Peak in an Audi S8, Nordschleife in a WRC or NASCAR, LeMans in an '60 open top race car, thats what Gran Turismo is all about.

And those weather features ... my god ... its like they went through the Improvement suggestion logs here in the forum

Quote :Thursday September 16, 2010 1:37

guess that means all real world stages including Nürburgring, Laguna, Le Sarthe, Infineon etc (LMS and ALMS)

+1, it looks great. I know it has taken them forever but (premium car argument aside) the sheer scale of it is incredible.
When is it out in Europe anyone?
November 3rd.
